I went to Sainsbury's in Bicester today. There's a large "Sainsbury's" sign made from individual letters at the front of the store, and last year an enterprising pigeon had built a nest in the curve at the bottom of the middle s. People used to look out for the pigeon as they stood on the travelator behind the sign, and it was rather disappointing to notice that a few months ago someone put pigeon-deterring spikes all over the letters. So I was rather pleased to note that this year the pigeon — or perhaps a different pigeon — is refusing to give up on what appears to be a desirable nesting site. It has covered the spikes in twigs and built a nest on top of them. Your move, Sainsbury's. Always amuses me when people call it Bi-Chester! Lol! Hope you like the new library there The Matthew....I did of course build it personally (or maybe only helped process lots of the new books for it!) And hooray for rebel pigeon!

Gah, with limited time and money, and lots of things already lined up, I'm trying to limit my theatre-going a little. I thought I was set on getting Hamlet tickets as a final splurge for the immediate future but this just seems so intriguing, especially after missing Octoroon. Gloria? Hamlet? Gloria? Hamlet? Both excellent.....I would pick Hamlet, just! But depends...Hamlet is a great version of a play I knew quite well, Gloria completely new....so what are you in the mood for? I think basically (although all the acting was excellent) Gloria is a fun play but could be done as well in a different production with different cast, whereas Hamlet is one of the best productions I've seen and Andrew Scott is a bit special (and I say this as someone who was not expecting that!)
Edit: you see now I've read emicardiff's spolier free review of Gloria and I may have changed my mind (I'm so fickle!) I feel your pain in trying to decide!

I gobbled up The Ferryman in the way one does when one knows one is really enjoying a show and doesn't want it to stop! Is it in the same league as Jerusalem? Hmmm....I think that's hard to say. I saw Jerusalem at the beginning of my theatre-going and it was just like "WOW" and because it was about a different sort of person, a different sort of attitude to life, almost like Trainspotting...showing us a radical way to live and yet mixing it with concepts of England and myths...so it's impossible to compare. I will say Ferryman has stayed with me and with all the recent publicity about the DUP in the news it takes on another level of interest. I just sat there and enjoyed and will go and see again quite happily!

Well this was fun and quite a good companion piece for The Treatment. Great doubling by the cast...my favourite Colin Morgan as IT guy! Met Emicardiff and she is lovely! ☺

Come and say hello (and we can talk about Angels, I promise, as saw 2 show day without any knowledge of play play!) I am wearing all black and have a small very bright red jumper....plus I have a lot of rather 80s style hair!

Oh and Boris (the idiot!) has tweeted saying if the SDP had been prepared to do a deal they could have secured the £1b for Scotland instead!

Seems a bit daft to me when the DUP would have voted with the Tories anyway as they don't want the alternative! Apparently they have had an "unofficial" arrangement for years...so just naive of TM to give them loadsamoney for something they would have done anyway?!

I have to agree with Parsley here...they did present things like a badge of honour and the hospital scene is unsettling, plus we are supposed to laugh at this stuff? I think the problem is also that the audience, instead of being shocked by these things, just tends to laugh at things these days that are really not funny. I have noticed it before and once had to leave a play where the audience were laughing at someone with a disability and thought it was ok.... I much preferred Glasgow Girls that I saw around the same time as this...that had a story and showed consequences and had more heart. In my view this one is a bit superficial... The songs are very good, mind you.

Would you rather have 6/7 or 5/6 of a bar of chocolate? (Give reasons for your answer.) 6/7ths. That's 0.85 of a bar. 5/6ths is only 0.83. I've already eaten it Theatremonkey...Mwahahaha *evil Mr Burns type hand rubbing*

Oh and the 2/7 is just division....just add a decimal point and some zeros 2.000 divided by 7....7 into 2 is 0 remainder 2, put the 2 next to the next zero, .so 7 into 20 is 2 remainder 6, put remainder before next zero....so then 7 into 60 is 8 remainder 4, put remainder next to next zero.....7 into 40 is 5 remainder 5 etc etc etc So your answer is 0.285 ....just carry on as long as you need! You don't need to remember it!

Any lady daft concerned enough to believe the newspapers, should free to send 5/6ths or 6/7ths of her supplies to me, Ah! Now Monkey. This is more my type of teaching. Would you rather have 6/7 or 5/6 of a bar of chocolate? (Give reasons for your answer.) Edit: (You may also like to check how many days in a week?) I was having to help a colleague at work out with fractions this week (he had been helping primary school daughter) and instead of chocolate I find Pizza portions are a great help! Also being stupid helps a lot.....for example, if you try and add 1/2 and 1/3 it is hard.....but chop them both into sixths and it becomes easy! And if you just draw pizza slices it all becomes clear! Problem above, turn both into 42ths .....first one is 36/42 second one 35/42 so I vote the first option (but can I have pizza instead?) P.S Both portions of chocolate would be gone in a flash so perhaps doesn't really matter?

Had some exciting work news and a team lunch on the company, so a pretty good day! Sadly I seem to have banjaxed my leg and have been hobbling around in pain all day. Am now RICE-ing it in front of the TV. I walked into the bed this morning while getting ready for work...badly bruised toes so have been hobbling round all day....so I feel your pain, literally! Glad about the good news and team lunch!

I keep on reading tweets encouraging everyone to vote. These are usually from the same people who are slamming the Tories & are clearly ardent Labour supporters. I do wonder if they'd be encouraging me to vote as much if I informed them I will, as always, be voting Conservative! Yes, I would be encouraging you to vote...and you'll note at the start of the thread I don't ask people to vote any particular way, JUST VOTE! I believe when you have a majority of people disaffected with politics and democracy you have a real problem....they feel they have no say in how the country is run, they feel they have no way to change things that they do not like, they feel powerless...and then the only logical response is "some other way". It's not so very long since we had riots in London, I remember riots in Brixton and Toxteth.... So yes, vote how you all like but VOTE!

Really glad I saw this! Interesting story, fun set, great acting from everyone! I was immersed in both the real world and Jess's virtual world and Fleetwood was superb. Had me rather teary. Kris Marshall quite a surprise...excellent! Interesting questions about how you want to live your life and how big you want your world to be. Those front seats are quite tiny aren't they? I think there should be a LARGE wearing when you buy them....I had spread issues from person next to me!

Firmly in the "hated this" camp. "Shoud've listened to Parsley" I don't need to have stuff spelled out for me I don't need limp pathetic audience participation that does not add anything Why the excessive strong swearing that added nothing?I don't mind swearing atall, but here it just seemed to jar. Point of the play lost? Here it seemed to be "do what you are told or you will be shot" right from the start to finish.....no development? The end was annoying as I was just thinking...why the long speech, we get it, now can we leave this car crash of a play and I may be able to catch my train? I quite liked the snatches of singing. And the audience seemed to really enjoy it...sometimes I despair!

I live in 12th safest Tory seat and even if all the "non-Tories" got together and voted the same way they would still win....but I shall be voting as after the election they will be spouting figures about % of vote gained by each party in the whole country....so if I can show that I support a party, even in this minor way that will not change my MP, then I will! You will note that UKIP never won many MPs but their share of the vote changed the way politics in this country woks. The Occupy London movement changed the way we feel about companies paying tax in the UK. You don't have to win an election to change politics (although it's obviously easier!) I traditionally didn't talk much about politics in my family (it's an awkward British thing, like talking about how much money you earn!) but it's time we all stood up and cared a bit more!

I hope you are all signed up. To any young person who does not intend to vote I would say VOTE! If you do not vote you give political parties a "get out of jail free" card. Why would they make policies that appeal to the young if the young do not vote?! Make yourselves important! There is the (very true) argument of people died to give us the right to vote but in the there here and now don't give them the excuse to ignore you! Be heard! Please talk to friends family and get everyone to make their voices heard! There, I'm done!

An eye surgeon removed my father's cataract so he has clear vision in one eye again now. 20 minutes. Modern medicine is AMAZING. No bill, just 2 weeks from consultation to operation. The NHS is also AMAZING. Oh, and eye-doctors totally rock. I think your father was lucky to have it done that fast though. Last year my mother had to wait a couple months to have 1 eye done then another 5 months to have the 2nd one done. Spending 5 months with 1 eye newly almost-normal-sighted while the other eye was still short-sighted was pretty difficult for her. Yes, my mum had a YEAR between getting the first eye done and the second! Luckily my sister persuaded her it was worth getting an interim pair of glasses after having the first eye done (they advise you to wait until both eyes are done!) so she could see my daughter getting married! The impact on her confidence about walking was huge until she got this "interim" pair of glasses...sometimes I don't think politicians realise how quickly an older person can lose abilities!

You see I thought Boyle had got worse when I saw him (first saw it in July, then January) I thought he was using a strange voice at times (sometimes I couldn't understand him) and much preferred him earlier in the run.

I once went to the National with very well off friend. She managed to knock her glass of wine all over my £10 meal (when they had the nice food near the Lyttleton) ...she apologises profusely to me, whisks up my meal to take back....I thought to buy a new one...and then proceeds to LIE to the staff and say a little old lady spilled her drink on her meal and could they replace it?....it all happened so fast that I had no time to do anything, I was so shocked. She is no longer a friend
