Policy for this is bonkers. Lots of availability still, but only for groups of 5 and 6. If there were more 2s and 1s would have sold out today. I’ve not looked at the plan for this but 5/6 seats is often the same space as 2 singles. I can see what they do it!

Just had an email from the Open Air theatre with the subject line and update on your visit.’ Which I opened with my heart in my mouth but it’s ok. AN UPDATE ON YOUR VISIT We wanted to be in touch ahead of your visit to the theatre this weekend. As we are unable to facilitate table service, in line with changes to government guidance, alcohol cannot be purchased at the venue. The bar is open for non-alcoholic drinks. You can still pre-order bottles of wine and champagne up to 4 hours prior to the performance. Pre-orders can be made here. Thank you for your understanding. Kind regards The Open Air Theatre Team I had a similar heart-in-mouth moment, especially as my November visits to Nativity and Ghost have fallen recently so it’s what I expect in an email from a theatre!

Any predictions on closing night cast? I’m thrilled with whoever I see, I saw Pepe, Ricardo and Maimuna in August and would happily see their amazing performances a second time but would quite like to see the other 3 too, especially Declan who was out when I saw it in 2018.

I keep being offered Stalls Row O seat 3 for £24.95. Is this seat decent? Can't wait to actually see this show properly from a decent seat. First time I saw it my seat was fantastic but it got stopped 5 minutes in... Second time my seat was terrible Third time Covid cancelled! I rushed to book reopening night as soon as I got the email and got a central seat. After seeing this I’ve booked for a second visit in January in that seat (the day I should have been seeing Harry Potter) so this will be a shorter evening! Now the seating plan shows I can see that O2 is available the night I have O3. That doesn’t seem right to me

Cinemas already aren’t. It will be interesting if anyone who only booked as it was every other row is unhappy what they will do

They’ve just added a lot more seats for this. Mainly doubles and singles in the stalls

My January ticket has been postponed (announced early August), I filled in the form but haven't heard back Has anyone else? (booked via Nimax) I have looked online and it looks like I have been assigned a new date but not sure If I can rely on that! I've asked for May and I know both January and May are a long way off but my 2021 is getting busy and already had one double booking! I emailed them today and they resent the confirmation so that’s worth trying if anyone is in the same position as me

I’ve impulsively booked reopening night (not sure if that is the technical term but the first performance). I was so excited to see the roadshow version before that was stolen from us. I am so happy Nimax are helping make this happen!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the £19.450 tickets! I got 2 in row V next to the sound desk, which is usually not too bad a view! Thanks for the heads up on the heads up. Already booked for the first weekend in the upper circle. Now booked for those stalls bargains later in the run too (row in front is £79 so can’t be too bad is my thinking!!)

I said ages ago put six in the palladium and sell 800 seats. They even have multiple casts so could have 3 bubbles worth! I know it’s not that simple in real life but especially for theatres that are dark I feel something could be put in!

Wow. I don’t have enough words to say how amazing tonight was. I have seen and adored The Play that Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Comedy about a Bank Robbery and their TV projects. I have Groan Ups in the diary too (fingers tightly crossed that the new date happens). I think part of it was the joy of just getting to a live performance (though this is my third after JCS and Sleepless) but this was on another level. The improvisation and teamwork were truly awesome. Our story was Coffee in Cairo, a spy thriller with elements of slapstick, musicals and Costco.
I don’t envy the questions to parents from girls who looked about 6 and 7 about bad hand actions (I forget the exact line but self love or someone else performing that act was heavily hinted at many times!!!)

There's some good upper circle seats being sold for £22.85 on ToadyTix if you hurry. Would recommend using Seatplan. Are there different from the £19.85 ones direct from LW Theatres?

Saw this tonight. Sadly, this really isn't it - how this became the only show in London is a bit of a tragedy. It's extremely weak in almost every aspect. Surely they had the largest talent pool in history for this production - the entire industry is out of work. How they ended up with this cast and creative team is beyond me. Full review tomorrow. It was cast before lockdown and got as far as dress rehearsal. I’m not sure if it reopened with the exact same cast but they were hardly going to sack them and recast (not at all saying I agree with the poor review by the way)

Given this opens in a few weeks, have they published any more COVID guidance? Masks etc? 23/10 is opening isn’t it? That’s still some ways off so I’d imagine not yet as the rules change so often!

It’s a tricky one. I bent the rules a little for JCS at Regent’s Park as it’s outdoors but I’d have trouble convincing anyone to come to this with me whether in my bubble or not. This meant I had to jump on a single ticket.

I can't find any way to book single seats, unfortunately. I think they were all snapped up. There were 2 on the matinee when I first looked then one went and I took the second.

That was 37 at the start. Quite a few more by the end with people who had gone to the toilets not allowed back into the theatre. Some clearly not too happy. One having an animated conversation on his phone just by the lawn area. I agree with the ushers not letting them back in, everyone was told on entry. But they should fine them somewhere else to stand rather than be inflicted on the people who have paid for the lawn. One woman came and sat on the other side of the table I was at, ignoring the social distancing sign. I let it slip as she was elderly and I didn't want to cause a scene. Last night I did wonder what happened to all the people who left and didn’t return. I’d assumed they were crucified.

I might have imagined it but I saw someone say there was a page on the theatre site where they were just listing the single tickets available - does anybody have a link? Thank you! On the event information page they list them all but I don't think they list what are available when without looking: openairtheatre.com/production/jesus-christ-superstar-the-concert

I am looking forward to this on Saturday but again am struggling with the transport arrangements, my last train home is 22:35 from Waterloo (I was planning to comfortably make the 23:05). Has anyone noticed what time the show finishes recently? It is looking a bit tight for comfort! 19:45 start, finished about 22:10. I would say the 22:35 was impossible and I wouldn't even have risked a 23:05 as you're completely the wrong side of London for Waterloo. Any chance of changing to the matinee? Only other option I can think of (perhaps) would be the overground to Clapham Junction and connect there, but that all depends where you're heading from Waterloo. There are some very cheap hotels in Wembley right now too (Travelodge, Ibis etc). Thanks. I think there was a later train than the 23:05, that was just the one I was aiming for. As you say 22:35 is looking impossible. I have found some good hotel deals so looks like it might be a weekend out rather than a day out!

That’s a great video. They are really lucky as the whole venue is huge, not just the performance space. I am there in 9 days and really excited!

70-75 minutes is standard for Mischief Movie Night ordinarily, not just under coronavirus conditions, & they're usually pretty good at not over-running. Two years ago I recall easily getting a train just after 9pm in Leicester & that was a 7.30pm start. Given a check of the Brighton Open Air Theatre's website gives the start time as 630pm, you'll have masses on time to get a train at 9pm. In fact if there's a train an hour earlier then you might well be able to make that. Thank you (and Sophie92). I’ll stand down the hotel search! As long as I can comfortably make the 9pm, I hate watching my watch during a show.

Bum, fiddlesticks and rats. The trains I was planning to get home from Brighton no longer exist. The last train with connections is 21:02!! What is the usual running length of the show? I might have to go back to finding a hotel (though may be too late to get the Friday off work!

I applaud the producers of this. They obviously want it to happen so much and as has been mentioned the space suits social distancing. The trailer is a little odd but seems to follow the style of movie musical trailers not showing singing either! I hope I have an enjoyable evening there in a couple of weeks. It has been fun spotting my seat in the little snippets on social media from the production and cast. I’m ramping up with a no theatre trip to London this Saturday, outdoor theatre (JCS) the Saturday after then sleepless the Saturday after that. Not sure when my next 2 show day will be!

I want to think positively. If the snooker is a success it will help there be more trials. It is easy to pick photos where everyone looks close together or it looks barren to help your case

OK Guys - after the furore on the Follies thread back-in-the-day when it was announced there would not be an interval at The National, I am very disappointed we've not had several pages detailing ideas, concerns and expectations about how people's bladders might fare at an interval-less JCS. Personally, mine is quite weak so will be going at the last possible moment before entering the auditorium and restricting myself to one small diet coke for the duration. This issue is compounded at the Open Air where they are famously militant about not letting you back in should you need to go mid-show. Ahhhh, the heady days when #bladders, #willtherebedayseats, #howhighisthestage and #whenwillthesecondcovermidwifebeon were the most of our worries. I am glad to still have a good bladder. I finally got round to watching the Lord of the Rings films at the cinema. If I can get through those without a loo break I’ll get through anything the theatre world can throw at me. It will be nice thinking about all these trivialities again!

I agree. It seems an odd choice as shops exist so it isn’t too different. I’d get it being cash free or prebooked only even. I really do hope there is a clear cast board we can photograph on the way in with the double casting.
