Tube noise surely has to be the worst at the Dominion! Literally constantly.

Robert Guillaume, the first ever black actor to play Phantom (contrary to the marketing for Norm Lewis' run!), has passed away

I so missed "Where Did We Go Wrong" why did they cut that song? Was it in at the beginning of the tour? I don't know why, I just seem to remember the audience not laughing at "She'll be Thursday before we know it!" as much as I thought they would. I saw it when it was at the New Wimbledon Theatre. Or perhaps they kept that line in and moved it else where...

Agree -- I've got a few bootlegs of the pre-broadway version, the broadway version and the 2 differing US tour versions and the UK tour is by far the worst (I believe this is like version 6 or 7 of the show, if we include some of the international versions -- I believe even the recently opened Paris production is different yet again!).
Although I do appreciate the adding of Secrets (one of the best songs in the show, in my opinion!), I still think the broadway version is the best.

Last night I decided to go see The Exorcist, but decided that I would drop into the Garrick on the off chance they had student seats left. Arrived at 18:30, an hour before it starts, and they still had seats available. So bought them, sold at slightly restricted due to overhang of the circle. Row S, I believe! Seat was decent enough - a pillar on the left hand side was ever so slightly in the way, but I could see 99% of the stage, but did find my left eye was straining a bit throughout (I assume because it kept on focusing on the pillar?). Either way, for £20 the seat was awesome. They didn't even ask to see the NUS card, oddly enough. Just asked if I had my student card with me, but never actually asked to see it... Show was AMAZING. Everything I was hoping it would be. I've been waiting 10 years for it to come to London, I've always loved the cast album. Some omissions from the show included The Happiest Town in Town, Join the Family Business, Life, Life and Man about Town. Was a bit disappointed, as I love them all. But I did like how where both Life, Life and Man About Town are in the musical, the songs were sort of just there, they were just spoken instead (literally word for word for some bits!). Thought all of the cast was amazing. Not a weak link anywhere. I actually dislike Ross Noble immensely, if he was ever on a panel for anything I'd always switch over, but he was AMAZING and feel a bit guilty now, haha. As mention many times, though. Lesley Joseph steals every scene she's in. She's brilliant. Hadley Fraser is great, a lot better than I was expecting (For me, I couldn't see him in the role... but that may have just been because I'm so used to hearing Roger Bart...). Can't wait to go again ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Definitely try for day/student seats, though!

Thank you both! Going to try this Sat for the Matinee.
What other shows do student tickets? I remember getting student tickets for Lion King years back.

Did anyone end up having any luck with student tickets after the earlier poster had issues?
not having any luck through TodayTix, so going to try for a student ticket instead!
If anyone has had luck, is an NUS card sufficient? As a staff member at a University, I'm entitled to NUS cards, UNiDAYS and student discounts, but only have my NUS and staff ID card (although it doesn't actually say staff on it, just 'member'!

Saw Woman in Black last night. We had the understudy Actor (Raymond Rose), who I thought was great! Perhaps the best understudy I've ever seen!
The theatre was near empty, I don't believe the circles were open, but can't be 100% sure, but the stalls were only about 60% full (and obviously the fortune is quite a small theatre!). The moment it started, a group of people in front of me to the right began to open bags of crisps, whilst the man sitting next to opened and proceeded to close, and then open again a bottle of pepsi, letting the air escape so slowly and creating a noise that likely everyone in the auditorium could hear given it's small capacity.
A group of tourists sat in front of me to the left. Now, I expected laughter after each scary occurrence, but they laughed, and laughed and laughed and laughed! Literally for minutes after the fright happened. The actors did their best to continue, but they must have heard it go on and on and on and on.
Obviously no interval and perhaps it would have been wise for them to have informed everyone properly (there is a sign outside of the box office, but if you have your tickets already, then you miss this sign completely!) that they would be required to sit still for approx 1 hour 45 minutes. People were getting up to the toilet continually. The issue is that there are curtains over the doors and then a bolt at the top of the door, which they bolt shut as the doors don't have locks, so it created a lot of noise every single time someone needed to go (6-7 times throughout the performance).
This isn't bad behaviour at all, but just wanted to mention it:
About 10 minutes before the end of the performance, the near entire row in front of us got up and began to leave. I was confused - why would you leave so close to the end and whilst the story was actually being explained to us? They were with an older lady, who once she got into the isle fainted. I'm not sure what happened, perhaps the show was too scary for her? Either way, just wanted to say the actors were amazing at working through it. Like I said, a small theatre that was no where near full - they were completely aware at what was happening, especially with the gasps from the audience. They must have been pretty terrified, especially the guy playing the actor as when the fainting actually happened, he was facing the audience and likely saw the whole thing.
Think I've been spoilt... the last 3-4 trips to the theatre have been amazingly pleasant. No annoyances at all, perhaps now even the smallest of things are beginning to annoy me!

Went to the box office in hope of getting a £20 student dayseat. Get there early enough to know I should get something. Fourth in the queue and when the time comes to ask the man at the box office says "we don't do student rate on the dayseats". To which I said "but it says you do online for £20". He insisted, again, they don't. I didn't want to kick up a fuss as there were people behind, and I heard another person ask for a student ticket to the other box office assistant who also said they do not offer them. I paid the full £25, it is only £5 but what's the point in advertising student tickets, assuming that is the producers' way of trying to make accessible to those of a limited budget and understanding they have a very limited budget, if you're not willing to sell them. I haven't seen anywhere that this is an week only offer, and checked in the queue to avoid embarrassment. I have since popped a tweet to the Young Frankenstein account and Nimax to see what's going on, if it's just miscommunication or something else. From now on, I'll just stick with the TodayTix lottery, seems a better service. This is disappointing! We were going to try next Saturday for student tickets. What time did you get there? Was it for the matinee?

Anyone know for sure whether or not Leanne was on tonight (Thursday)? Leanne doesn't perform Thursdays. When I saw it a couple of weeks ago, we had the 2nd understudy.

So is Life cut? It wasn't on the song list, but there is footage from what looks like the staging from the Broadway production in the trailer? (The rising platform).

Personally, I thought Ashley was amazing. I'd probably see the show again to see him in the role. I didn't hate it, but the ballet in act 2 went on wayyyy too long - I got bored during it.

Eventually saw it last night and thought it was amazing! The ballet in the 2nd act went on a bit too long though...
I'm also slightly in love with Ashley Day.
We had Kristen McGarrity as Lise (who I believe is the 2nd Understudy) and Alyn Hawke as Henri and both were great also. Other than the 2nd act ballet, couldn't fault it. Albeit a bit predictable and clichéd.
I've never been in the Dominion before, but damn, it's a beautiful theatre.

Saw this last night and loved it. Thought that Laura Carmichael was brilliant -- by far the stand out. This should be doing much better than it is. The last 4 rows of the Studio were basically empty last night.
I will always wonder if Claire enjoyed Thursday night............

I sat centre front row booked through official website. Surely one of the biggest bargains of the West End right now for a show of this type. That's where I'll be sitting next Friday! So relieved that I just missed Ashley Day's week off, since I booked solely for him. Do you know when he will be back? I was thinking of booking Monday/Tuesday next week, but I guess he'll still be off then?

Funnily, I was dreading seeing Forster as Phantom, but I actually thought he was amazing. I loved how aggressive he was as Phantom compared to previous actors I'd seen. I actually think he is one of my favourite phantoms! Interesting you say that because theres been quite a bit of debate here recently about actors specifically having to re-enact the original principals role, specially Phantom having to be played exactly as Crawford played him in the late 80s. I've always felt Forster played him quite differently to other Phantoms, but others have disagreed saying its Crawfords Phantom verbatim. Personally, I never really liked Crawford (granted, I never saw him live, but I just don't really like his voice). I've always liked Phantoms who play him more aggressively. I love Peter Karrie, for example. I don't know, I just really felt that Forster played the Phantom perfectly to how I imagined the character to be. Definitely not like Crawford played him. I actually avoided seeing Forster in the role for a while because of negative reviews, and only went to see him because there was a good ticket deal! So glad I did.

Just to add to the above; downloaded TodayTix (actually can't believe I hadn't heard of this!). They still have rush tickets left for today, but hoping to see Ashley Day (saw him years ago when I took my cousin to see High School Musical and thought he was great!) so I will try again next week since he's on holiday!

i am so happy that Ben Forster is now no longer the Phantom, have only seen 4 so far but he is by far the least liked for me my 2 faves are Geronimo Rauch and Peter Jöback one casting i am not so ok with(well maybe he would surprise me, but after Harriet leaves i am taking a break from Phantom for some time) is Jeremy as Raoul - hope he is not as boring as he was in Wicked, nearly fell asleep watching him dancing through life the Christines sound great from the audios i have seen and i bet the new Ben in great too, like him in LND Funnily, I was dreading seeing Forster as Phantom, but I actually thought he was amazing. I loved how aggressive he was as Phantom compared to previous actors I'd seen. I actually think he is one of my favourite phantoms!

Hi all, where is the best place to get tickets for this? Seems there aren't any deals anywhere online, but deals at the Tkts booths are good. I've had a look on the show's website and it doesn't seem to be selling particularly well, so I imagine there are ways to get decent deals! I read on the previous page they were selling a lot of tickets on the day at the theatre, is this reduced or full price? Thanks
