I've just listened to an Amy Webb DG on YouTube, I am 100% convinced that Lucie stayed on for all of Act 1 and then Amy took over from Act 2.

I would've put my money on it being Lucie up to DG, it definitely sounded and looked like her until then, and Amy has a slightly deeper voice and acting style which was noticeable from her WWOTE scene with Nessa. But I guess I could be wrong.

No it was definitely Lucie up to and including DG. They then announced the change prior to Thank Goodness starting 😁

I was at the matinee today, my first ever 'witch switch' show with Amy taking over from Lucie after the interval.
If Lucie was poorly then she covered it BRILLIANTLY, her first-half performance was faultless and she showed no signs of struggling at all. TWAI and DG were properly belted so she did really well if she was suffering.
And Amy was also fantastic. In a weird way it was fascinating seeing the two portrayals in the same show, it's never happened to me before.
Glinda, Morrible and the Wizard all excellent.
Flyers....how the hell did he get the job? Decent enough voice but the man cannot act. The only weak link in an otherwise fantastic cast.

I thought she did a good job and sounded great. What we don't know is how long that took to film, how many takes, rest stops etc, can she do the full big number without losing the stamina or the vocal. I'm pleasantly surprised based on that so I'm sure she'll be fine.

Agreed - Natasha, Jak and Zoe are the strongest links for me.

Amber all the way for me. I saw her 6 months into her run and it was one of the best vocal performances I've ever heard.

I love the film to pieces, I just know I'm going to hate it on stage 🤣
I've got a Christmas voucher to use and a birthday coming up next week so I might treat/punish myself 🤣

I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I'm asking you to help us understand. But if you can't be bothered then let's just move on.

fiyerorocher So you want us to understand your argument but you're not willing to actually explain it. We're trying but you're not giving us anything to work with.

Subtext is a hidden meaning, alluded to by actual dialogue, behaviour, body language or interaction within the text itself. Where are you seeing these allusions? I'm trying to see it from your side but so far your case is that there is a queer subtext simply because you say you can see one. Great, but that's not subtext, that's just interpretation. What specifically makes it queer to you?

Can you give us some examples of the subtext that you see, maybe that would help us see it in the way you're seeing it?

I'm all for more lesbian leads in shows, fantastic, go and write some, but finding a queer subtext in an obviously platonic friendship does feel a bit of a stretch. I've seen it 10 times, 11th this coming weekend, and I'm gay, and I've never once thought there was any subtext between Elphaba and Galinda. If it's based on the 'why Miss Elphaba, you're beautiful' line then it's a bit flimsy.
The musical is a celebration of strong women and female friendship, cemented by "For Good", and that should be brilliant enough without finding need to make it something else. Interpret it how you like I guess, but for me there is literally zero subtext that I can see.
What's next, Marius and Enjolras opening a Bed & Breakfast together somewhere in Paris, just because they pat each other on the back occasionally? 🤣

I liked it! But each to their own. Probably makes sense to the the stage version first though.

Yeah my guess is that Brenda was still scheduled to do the tour but has maybe withdrawn and maybe Marisha is doing it instead. She'll be a great Deloris.

I saw this as an early-birthday treat from a friend last night.
It's a technical masterpiece and stunning to look at. Steph and Samantha were also fantastic. The new songs don't really add anything which is a shame, and I'd forgotten how little Elsa actually has to do, especially in the first act. It's really Anna's show and Steph knocks it out of the park, she really nails the characterisation. Samantha's Let It Go was incredible though.
I'm also now watching a Broadway bootleg and I'm so glad it's been cast more age-appropriately than in the States. Patti Murin and Caissie Levy are both brilliant but they both read far too old for teenagers!

I would assume so, it's not an overly demanding role.
