I do apologise if people think I've overstepped the mark. I can also only comment on what people put out there of themselves. When someone has constantly been told or hinted at (politely) about their constant posting of the same stuff and is just plainly ignoring it (which of course they are free to do) then you have expect a bit of backlash.
George, a message to you; you'll find in previous posts to you I've also tried to be helpful and offer words of encouragement to you but mostly I come on this thread or other threads and see the same thing over and over from you.I do try and avoid it but when it's everywhere and constant, which it seems to be, you have to understand that it can also be frustrating. I will make a conscious effort to rein it in and I hope that you do to.

See, I think that's why they have her heartlessly kill that student (Greg? Don't know why that name is in my head). But that moment on the night I was there fell flat. No ghasps. I think it has to do with the delivery of her 'avada kedavra'. Not to sound like Hermione but a lot of the casts spell delivery could use some work, or made clearer.

Did the producers phone you up to let you know George? Aha no. I'm friends with several producers due to me being an aspiring producer and planning shows. They emailed me if you must know without making sarky comments What was the point in you coming on here to say that you knew something but couldn't tell us? It came across as quite arrogant. Shows are always in the process of being cast, so what was our reaction meant to be? For someone that claims to be so well connected and planning shows, you do seem quite naive about how things work. Curiouser and curiouser...

Does anyone know if those smelly herbal cigarettes they use on stage are a particular brand, commercially available and less harmful than normal cigarettes? They're tabacco and nicotine free, so yes less harmful. They're not a particular brand, there's a few.

Me again, sorry. Those who have been recently - is the 'you must turn up an hour before' rule still in force? I'm a solo theatregoer so that could be pretty dull and awkward for me. Given that I won't have a bag with me and I don't want any merchandise/food/drink, just a quick loo trip and to watch the show, will turning up 20-30 mins in advance be OK? Part one I got to the theatre 20 minutes before the show (got stuck in traffic) - Sailed through no problem Part two I got to the theatre about 35 minutes before the show - Sailed through no problem. My other half who got there about an hour before had to queue for a bit before. If you don't have a bag you're fine but if you do they will check it. They seem to have got it down to a fine art now so a full hour isn't necessary I think.

Getting really fed up with this post now. Anyone else feel the star system on here encourages people to add repetitive nonsense in order to get stars, a bit like people getting excited about getting likes on Facebook. We have people now who are advanced members of our community just by posting the same s**t every day. Often thought this about a few people on here! That and starting as many threads as possible.

This thread will be the death of this message board. It's crazy that we have nothing left to talk about but the nonsense of this rubbish production. Someone should shut this party down. I'm calling the police. (Just realizing that I might be further enabling the crazies by this post). I do agree with you. I know I've contributed to the silliness but I do feel we should just start again, lock this thread and just have strict rules in the newer one. No repetitive questions etc. Probably draconian but feel some aren't getting the message now.

I'm off to see Carole King at Hyde Park this evening and judging by some tweets it looks like the cast or at least CJ will be joining her on stage. Fantastic bit of promotion for the show.

When did you see it on Broadway, George? I'm sure you have a rough idea of some shows you haven't seen yet, nelly! Eh?! I'm allowed to have an opinion, if you read what I said, I said its good and different. But I just think it seems quire overrated and over shows, like Waitress, SoR, Shuffle Along, She Loves Me etc, deserved some awards too? Actually, I don't think you should be allowed to have an opinion on any award a show has or hasn't won if you haven't seen it, other than best score and even then a cast recording might not have everything you hear on it. Not liking the style or a cast recording is one thing but to say something shouldn't have swept awards when you haven't seen it AND say that it didn't give other musicals a chance too is just utter rubbish. They had as much chance of winning as Hamilton did. In fact the hype could have done Hamilton a disservice when it came to awards time.

I'm going to throw this in there... Hamilton is very overrated for me! I mean it's good and different but I don't think it should of sweeped the TONYS as it didn't give other good musicals a chance too. I don't see the hype and I've heard better shows than this When did you see it on Broadway, George?

That's a Sunday. So it won't interfere with her completing her run in FG Which wouldn't matter as by October, Sheridan will be back I didn't realise they plan on getting rid of her completely if Sheridan returns? Poor Natasha.

I don't really know how to begin as I think I'm still processing everything that went on! I absolutely loved being in this audience! I'll never get over all the ghasps at certain points and reveals.
Story wise it's not what I was expecting, I don't know what I was expecting but it was very clever haha!
That time turner wobble is definitely projection.
I'll get my few negatives out:
Having read through the whole thread this is going to be unpopular (I know, there's a thread for that!) but I wasn't that impressed with Noma's Hermione. The two nights I was there I just never felt much emotion coming from her, especially in her line delivery. I had no issues when she was cast. There were bits I thought were brilliant from her. Perhaps it's all caught up with her with what I'm guessing has been a lot of tweaks etc.
The actress playing Delphie (I don't have my programme to hand) I thought wasn't able to portray her character. She never seemed strong or powerful or anything like the Bellatrix we know. Pretty much everything I thought about her has been echoed in this thread so I'll leave it at that.
I didn't love the Hagrid scenes, especially the scene at the end in end at Godrics Hollow, still reeling from what we've witnessed I think it pulled that moment away from us too quickly and I just feel like Chris hasn't quite nailed Hagrid yet. But that'll come. He's got plenty time.
Positives:
All the effects were just perfect, everything I wanted and more. The dueling in the church was just so cool.
The end of Part 1 was just insane, scary and thrilling all at once. Just a massive WOW moment.
Dementors were absolutely awesome.
Thought the cast were so strong and slick, some real great characterisations and I can't wait to see them grow into the character even more with time. Visually perfect.
Absolutely loved Snapes scenes and they made me emotional about him as a character all over again.
I'm sure there's more but I'm at work! I kind of need someone to keep saying 'what did you think of this' to get me talking more haha.

Seating wise for Part 2 I still have the same feelings about being at the back as I did in Part 1.
What a magical two nights of theatre.

Sonia Friedman has to be one of the best producers in recent West End history with such excellent business sense. Her portfolio is so diversified, and this sh*tty little production is clearly profitable with or without a star and with or without negative press. She's certainly not scared to take some risks, some pay off some don't.

So my seats were on the back row (Row V) at the end of the row.
My view of the stage was clear, the circle overhang does affect a few things but not in a way it'll ruin your experience. I was lucky I was at the end of the row as I could stretch a leg out but the legroom isn't fantastic, my partner found it tight and she's 5ft 3! I think at £45 it was prices about right, no idea what it goes up to after previews.
Part 1 was amazing never felt a buzz in a theatre like it before and after. Can't wait for Part 2 tonight.
:-D

Wicked is basically everything you mentioned in your post above and that's done just fine... Yes, but Hamilton is based literally on the guy that founded America. Wicked is based on a fantasy book that reels from another book and, to an extent movie, that are some of the most popular books and movies out there. It had a basis for its popularity here. What I was suggesting is are people gonna want to see a musical about the guy who founded America?
And it is not me saying it won't be popular or successful, I am under no disillusion that it won't be. I just don't think it will be as big as some has been suggesting.
The basis of Wicked's popularity here WAS the hype from across the pond. Same with Mormon. I can promise you, the excitement and hype of it coming over wasn't because there was a new musical about some characters from the Wizard of Oz.

Just asking, after seeing stage doors for Doctor Faustaus, Savoy theatre stage door isn't that big for Sheridan, is it? I don't think I could do that through those crowds Out of interest, George, do you actually know where the SD is at the Savoy? I only ask as it isn't obvious but I'd say there's a large amount of space. It also has the advantage of not being on a main road.

GOD Running on Broadway A 2 year minimum contract in Chicago And a US tour All prior to the WE opening This show is gonna lose its shine well before coming to London By super saturating the market with itself I assure you It's gonna be a different story entirely in London I never thought I would say this, but Parsley does slightly have a point. I think it will succeed, but at the same time, the hype has been so much that there must be a point where people become sick and tired of it surely? Already has built in fan girls that are already gonna annoy the hell outta people because of the Cast Recording and the show itself.
It will likely be sold out for 6 months from opening even if the prices are insane. actually don't think it will be as big a hit as everyone is predicting. It is such an American story, I don't quite know if it will hit the same marks here as it does in the US. That said the music is great, and I am looking forward to seeing it, but also apprehensive because I don't know if it will live up to the hype it has gained and will be very disappointed if it doesn't.
Wicked is basically everything you mentioned in your post above and that's done just fine...
