Sounds terrible if they cut out all the scenes with the main bad guy

Really hope they don't do the short version in London. I love it as it is

Would love them to update the Albus and Scorpius relationship here, though

Okay does anyone know when they rewrote this? because re: my comment above, they *have* updated the Albus and Scorpius relationship and I had absolutely no idea!

Looking at the Wikipedia page, I’m guessing it was when the one-part version began playing. I saw the show in London last November and also bought a copy of the play text and noticed the extra dialogue in the final scene wasn’t in the play text.

The new dialogue was introduced with the Broadway version post-Covid. However, it didn’t make its way to the London production until the Year 6 cast took over in October 2022. At this point in London St Oswald’s was also cut, some of the soundtrack was revised and various line changes introduced. The final battle is now also shorter.

I saw the closing performance of the Year 5 cast and Scorpius was still pining after Rose. (On another note, poor Luke/Scorpius accidentally smashed his face into the floor during the final staircase scene and was scrambling to hide his bloody face...) I revisited the show shortly after for their 1000th performance (I believe this was approx. 1 month into the Year 6 cast taking over) and the change was already in effect. One change that had me scratching my head was Albus remaining a Slytherin after the first time travel - to reduce the number of lines and/or for costume reasons?

One change that had me scratching my head was Albus remaining a Slytherin after the first time travel - to reduce the number of lines and/or for costume reasons? Maybe story reasons? He supposedly ended up in Gryffindor initially because he asked the sorting hat because of what Panju said, but it doesn't really make any sense that he'd ask then and not ask in the 'normal' timeline, especially after we see James tease him and how much he hates the idea of being in Slytherin. Although it does beg the question of exactly how Harry plans on keeping apart two boys living in the same dormitory.

I never thought him ending up in Gryffindor made much story sense for the reasons above but the cynic in me does think it was a costume driven decision almost like a halfway between the original 2 part (which by year 5 London wasn’t even the original 2 part if you dial into specifics) and the 1 part. While the 1 part saves on casting some characters entirely it does also introduce a reduction in the number of costumes for some tracks that remain (Draco is one of the more obvious ones but the Snape track is also an example).
To the point about how Harry expects to keep apart two students in the same dormitory in London Draco’s dialogue is slightly changed to address this in the duel scene but I can’t remember the specifics of what he actually says and the 1 part shows Albus being in a single room.

It's usually best not to think too much about the plot of Cursed Child and how many holes are in it, I find. Or you'd be left with little time in life to do much else.

Extremely true - it’s one of those shows where the spectacle of seeing it live outweighs the story. The one part internationally actually makes the plot holes worse and I think tips the weight just too far to even be salvageable.
Perhaps for another thread but I’m really hoping that the Stranger Things play manages to combine the stage craft with a strong story that holds up to even the slightest bit of scrutiny.

I've not seen this since it first opened so thought I might go again. Just seen the prices...jeeeeez.
£288 for some stalls seats!
The nose bleed balcony seats that I paid £15 for are now £55. Guess I'll just keep it in my memory instead of seeing it again lol!

Guess I'll just keep it in my memory instead of seeing it again lol! I revisited HPP in March and was in the dress circle. It was quite pricey and the effects were limited to the size of the Palace walls. My seat in the stalls was as well 6 years ago but the experience was amazing. Having seen the production in NYC in 2 parts, that was the total package. The theatre was rebuilt at $10 million and the effects were all around us, even in the mezzanine, painted into the walls. I miss some of the scenes and characters cut to bring the running time down for touring. My visit the London production should Daniel join in.

At the Palace when did they stop redecorating between the parts? I remember early on loads of panels were replaced, nothing at all different now except for a couple of projections. Was that a post covid change?

I was there last Wednesday and they still do the changes - projections in the auditorium, changed banners above the merch stands, and the 'alternative' merch on sale.

January / February dates closer to the time Ticketmaster usually run an offer with up to 50% off.
Not always useful for those that aren’t close to London but the show does dynamic price down in the days leading up to performances.

Worth trying the lottery on TodayTix too. I entered recently for the first time in years and won first time, might have just been very lucky or there might not be many entering these days

I entered recently for the first time in years and won first time, might have just been very lucky or there might not be many entering these days As I've never won and I've entered nearly every week (although not for shows I know I can't attend), I'll say that you were exceptionally lucky!

Lottery tickets are usually first 2 rows in the stalls. Sometimes you will get a seat in the Dress Circle.
