I am Australian
Open letter to all Australians
I know this year and last year are tough. Hopefully we will hit our vaccination goals and we will be safe from Covid-19
The issue I have that every nation is acting individually, our states are acting individually. We need to have a national standard on how to manage covid-19. How to mitigate risk while allowing freedoms for all both domestically and internationally.
We will most likely not be able to get rid of covid-19. But we can mitigate risks by having education and a plan forward on how best to reduce risks and reach of covid-19.
We need a plan for how to open borders both internationally and domestically and what to do when people get sick . While making the numbers and severity of symptoms as low as possible.
We also need to weigh up risks associated with covid with financial, societal, lack of education and environmental risks and many others.
We need to weigh up control with freedoms of all Australians.
And have national not state but national rules and guidelines on what do to when someone gets covid-19 . And how best to reduce its impact while keeping borders , businesses, schools, hotels, universities , parks, pools etc open.
I think its fundamental we have a national program on this.
Also guidelines when to lockdown and when to not written in stone.
I also believe that we need to talk to our international guidelines on how to have standards on an international level. This would regard business, tourism, freight and logistics and many others.
If we don't do this the societal and monetary costs will be severe and unable to fix for decades to come
