Ever had a few too many before a show? Perhaps, cocktails at your favourite local bar after a matinee waiting for an evening performance?
This is a safe space to own up!
I'm differentiating this from the bad behaviour thread, because you were harmless. You didn't interrupt the show or other patrons in any way - you even had breath mints so the person next to you didn't inhale your fumes! You always pee long before curtain up and hold it until the interval!
Personally, I love a few drinks before a show - particularly one I really enjoy.

When the Les Mis tour came to Manc last time we had tix for opening night and because I live a minutes walk away from The Palace I invited my group round for celebratory pre-show cocktails. 🍹
I’m very proud to say I have a generous hand when it comes to pouring spirits. Let’s face it, you want to TASTE it, right? The mini cheddars and scampi fries were also flowing but despite that we were all half pissed by the time it was time to leave. Then of course everyone wanted to go to the toilet before we left so we were ages doing that and despite being so close to the theatre we were literally the last people to take out seats in the stalls, giggling just as the lights were dimming.
Thankfully we are theatre-going professionals so we’re impeccably behaved through the show 😌

The second time I saw Mamma Mia it had been arranged on my behalf following dinner and drinks for my “stag do”. I would never have chosen to see it again as I was very underwhelmed on my first visit. Suffice to say, with lots of liquid encouragement I had an absolute ball, and as such will always recommend to others who want to go that they do the same!  |

Got absolutely hammered when I took my wife to see Will Young once (we were staying opposite the venue). Unfortunately so did she so we both remember very little, but it was a lot less painful than it could have been.
Also when a friend and I went to see Kinky Boots when it first opened there was far too much liquid had at lunch, in the bar beforehand and during from those stupid mini bottles of Prosecco. It numbed the pain at least.

Worked on a family show that was done in the afternoon "on top" of a rock musical that played the evenings. Several times after our show we'd go and get a few bottles of wine, have a merry hour or so in the green room, then go and watch the rock musical drunk (from the back of the Gods where we were far away from paying punters). Not sure I'd do it now but it was great fun at the time.

Took my best friend to see SRB’s Lear at the National for her birthday. Stopped by Las Iguanas for a cocktail first. Misunderstood the 2-for-1 happy hour deal; got two of every cocktail we ordered. Then realised we were in the front row. For the performance being filmed for NT Live.

I had a double before Viva forever, it wasn’t enough and so had a couple more in the interval. I wish I’d had more.
Tipsiest was seeing the Lion King in Las Vegas after enjoying a champagne brunch. That I stayed awake is one of my greatest achievements.

Not me drunk personally but I was watching Yes, Prime Minister in Chichester the day Pompey won the FA Cup.
Sir Humphrey's first rhetorical question is answered by very drunk full kitted Portsmouth fan behind me. His other half was mortified and let him know this is not pantomime. Luckily fell asleep and then they left at half time with very partner apologetic. Mildly amusing looking back

The only and only time I saw Wicked, around 2007. We'd had too much to drink beforehand (these were free tickets and I was only vaguely interested in seeing the show, otherwise I wouldn't have indulged quite as much)
We had seats dead centre about 10 rows back in the stalls. Got as far as three quarters of the way through Act 1 and i was BUSTING for the lavatory!
Had to run up the aisle! Came back and was walking nearer and nearer to the stage and couldn't work out which was my row - I felt so close to the stage, that I was probably causing a massive distraction so I panicked after about maybe 20 seconds and wandered back and just plonked myself down in a spare seat that caught my eye, until the Interval!!!!!!!
