Do we think this will happen?
Broadway is closing at the Winter Garden (but may still open at a new Broadway theatre) but has proven strong ticket sales once it found its fan base.
If they don’t reopen on Broadway I doubt they’ll recoup but surely there’d be appetite for this in London so it would be a good move. I believe London and Australia are being considered.
I’m sure there’ll see what the climate is like post COVID 19 but fingers crossed! With all that’s happened on Broadway, I’d like to see it have a life over here.

Got hyped when I saw the thread. Thought it was confirmed to be coming over.

It probably depends on how the public treat the west end when it reopens. I imagine theatre will be one of the last things to reopen and it’s possible people will only start coming back gradually... which will probably stop all investment in big new musicals for the foreseeable.

“Welcome to a show about death”....
Too soon?
Think we are quite likely to see the light hearted Mean Girls late 2021/2022

Social distancing is likely to remain in place after lockdown so even if theatres do reopen they will be acting on a VERY reduced capacity - no one is going to be throwing money at grand all new productions for a long time.

The question remains - if an audience is to social distance from each other, are the actors too? Could work for The Last Five Years, Not so much for Les Mis.

Theatres can’t operate under social distancing rules so they won’t open until those have been removed. Theatres will most likely be the one of very last things to re-open, just how it was one of the first to close. I don’t see them reopening until at least summer 2021, as we’ll spend most of the next 6 months in lockdown/relaxing lockdown and trying to avoid additional outbreaks. By the time we get to looking at theatres opening it’ll be almost winter and my guess is to avoid a 2nd wave they’ll just keep them closed until next spring - by when we might be either in lockdown again or have a vaccine.
