Nothing to do with a new production of the play. I was wondering when was the UK premiere of this play. I can't seem to find any information about this. The National Theatre Program from the Helen Mirren production didn't help at all. Any ideas? Is there any reliable site that could help? Thanks

The same about "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?". What was the first London production? Who starred in it?

Thanks I think the first UK production was the one that opened at the Westminster on November 19th 1937 - if you are interested in more details of that production you can DM me an email address and I will send them. Also I can let you know sources for information like this (though mostly they are not websites).

Uta Hagen & Arthur Hill stared in WAOVW at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1963 - (Beverlee McKinsey and Richard Easton were Honey & Nick). There were a lot of restrictions on the London production, imposed by the Lord Chamberlain. Uta later remembered that she wasn't allowed to say "Jesus H. Christ," her opening line. She becomes so flustered that she said something like, "Jesus H. Magdalene." There's quite a lot of documentation as to the edits imposed for the London production.
