About to book for a show there but the only seats left are in the back half of the dress which warn about limited leg room and the very back of the stalls. Is the leg room really that poor there? Which would be the better option?

Which would be the better option? Yes, the legroom really is poor, though I'm over 6' tall. But the back of the stalls looses the top of the proscenium, so it's a trade off. By coincidence, I already had the Sheffield Theatres website open, so I'm happy to have a look, if you're happy to share your plans. |

Which would be the better option? Yes, the legroom really is poor, though I'm over 6' tall. But the back of the stalls looses the top of the proscenium, so it's a trade off. By coincidence, I already had the Sheffield Theatres website open, so I'm happy to have a look, if you're happy to share your plans. Yeh it's for Peter Pan Goes wrong this week. Either Wednesday or Thursday matinee. I just has a quick look again and some of the seats that were there have gone now so it's even more of a slim pickings! |

The pressure is on!
If you definitely want stalls, it now looks like Thursday. Row T will obviously be better than V, but is this a £35 show, and does anything happen 'up top'?
Row M in the circle is on a ledge above row L. Mid row is going to be very tight.
The aisle seats in the balcony actually aren't too bad, though not at £35. Centre aisle seats are better than ends, which is why they're more expensive.

Sometimes it happens. I'm not that fussed if it doesn't work out, i was just at a loose end this week and it's the only thing kinda local that I've not seen and interested in. Thanks for your help. |

The choice then is probably missing some of the flying from the rear stalls, from the rear circle, or the balcony. |

The TV version would quite possibly have put me off, had I not already seen the stage version a number of times. The logo on the tour's website says "As half seen on BBC One"! Since I've only ever seen PPGW from the first dozen rows of the stalls & have never been to the Sheffield Lyceum I'm not sure how much of the flying would actually be missed. |

Okay, let me summarise:
Rear stalls - possibility of missing some of the flying, but only if it's really high.
Rear circle - possibility of missing some of the flying, but only if it's towards the rear of the stage. It's legroom that is the real issue.
Balcony- again, a possibility of missing some of the flying, from mid to rear stage. Don't pay too much, but many of the aisle seats are good value.
The Lyceum only has circa 1,000 seats, so it's not a great barn of a theatre where the actors are dots!

The Lyceum is one of my locals and I hate the limited leg room seat in the circle and balcony. I'm 5 foot 2 and they're uncomfortable. And the temperature at the back of the circle is far too hot (but that might be me having hot flushes). If I had the choice I'd go for most stalls seats over anything further back than maybe the first 5 or 6 rows of the circle. My favourite seats are the side bench slip things in the dress circle.

The Lyceum knackered my back.
Not long after it reopened I went to a concert there and was sat in the circle. I’m 6’3” 😣. I’ve never been the same since and I’ve never been back to the Lyceum either.

Some more tickets have just become available for the 3rd to last row of the stalls. I might go for that then, hopefully i don't miss much of the flying from there.

Anyone would think this was the first stop of the tour! If you're travelling by train, on an 'open' ticket, you may like to consider splitting your ticket at Derby. Leicester to Sheffield is £30.10 return; Leicester to Derby is £12.10, and Derby to Sheffield is £12.60, making a total of *only* £24.70. You must try the bakewell traybake next door at the world-famous Crucible Theatre. It comes highly recommended by a certain bear! |

Legroom tight in all seats as far as I'm concerned, ranging from knees pressing up against the back of the next seat through to having to sit sideways. I find the stalls better overall, although the front half of the circle wasn't as bad as expected. But then again I expected no room whatsoever so anything was a bonus. Its a lovely theatre though.

Just out and happy to say the seats were fine. No problem with missing the top of the stage or any of the flying and the leg room in the stalls was fine for me. Good show BTW. Very funny. I had a great time.
