What a film! I think this is my favourite of the year so far. I'd have to go back and look at what came out this year to make sure since so many films seem like they came out ages ago that I forgot they were this year (Midsommar, which I loved, only came out a few months ago and it feels like forever since I've seen it, let alone the stuff earlier on in the year). And as a bonus it's also related to theatre since Adam Driver is a theatre director and Scarlet Johannson is a theatre actor. There's even a couple of songs from Company. Just brilliant acting all around, frequently funny, frequently heart-breaking and hard to watch and frequently gorgeous (the colour palette is so beautiful).

I thought it was fine but not the stand-out the reviews had led me to expect. However, there's so much hype and most weeks there are several major releases for which grandiose claims are made, so it's hardly surpising if they don't all live up to audience expectations - and personal taste is always a huge factor.

Have just seen this as it’s now been added onto Netflix. It probably isn’t the type of film I would re-watch over and over but I thought it was excellent. Two strong leading performances from Adam Driver (who I think just edges it) and Scarlett Johansson, that are bound to be recognised in the awards season and nice to see them both in different roles to what I’ve usually seen them in. I wasn’t overly keen on Laura Dern but thought Alan Alda was sweet and funny, Ray Liotta is always great and made the most of a short appearance. Very bitter-sweet scene when he sings Being Alive.

Now I've also seen Ordinary Love (with Lesley Manville and Liam Neeson), it's interesting to be able to compare the 2 films as a marriage is the central relationship in both. Far more to get your teeth into in Marriage Story; Ordinary Love was well-acted but completely pointless so far as I could see.

Utterly heartbreaking. Adam Driver is unbelievable. I loved this. Could cry about it again now.

I thought Adam Driver was superb (isn't he always?), but I guess I just don't have the "romcom" gene, and absolutely hated the film itself.

A lot of reviews talked about the comedy which I struggled to find. Maybe because my parents got divorced it just didn’t ever seem funny to me? |

I finally managed to watch this. If I am honest, it does feel a little long, and could have easily shaved off half an hour, but it is very good, and the pay-off in the last 10-15 minutes is worth it, and I really liked how it came full-circle. From “You Could Drive A Person Crazy” onwards I loved it. The balance of humour with this heavy emotional drama was also excellent.
