Yep. Looks horrendous. I can't quite ascertain if the "terrorist" actually killed anyone before being killed themselves. The "terrorist" was wearing a fake bomb. Funny that this has happened shortly after the UK lowers it's terrorism threat level.

The Met received the call at 13:58, I was on London Bridge Station at 14:10, just in time to catch my train home before trains got suspended.

Terrorism threat levels don't impact on lone wolf attackers like this sort of incident.
They don't have large networks that can be targeted. They are almost impossible to spot in advance.
And knives are part of our every day lives. We cannot do anything to stop people using big kitchen knives for violent acts.
We can just hope that the police can reduce the impact when such incidents happen. And that is what they did today.

Obviously not the most important issue but the various theatres in the area (menier, bunker, Southwark) have confirmed performances are going ahead as normal this evening

How sad and what can you say that hasn’t already being said, it does mean people connected to the two dead victims’ are going to have an awful Christmas and long after —because of someone’s warped believes.
Like everyone, I have not an ounce of sympathy for this scumbag, but he just fired the gun, that others have loaded, the attack maybe ‘lone wolf’, but the development wasn’t so in the way the perpetrator is vulnerable, as ultimately the person has been indoctrinated with sinister believes that they going to have an awesome afterlife, if the person randomly killed as many people as possible, oh hello, smell the coffee. No matter what religion it is a pernicious man creation that people are promised a better life after death and today blood has been spilled because of it, like it has for thousands of year.
You need to also also get hold of the filth peddling armourers and put these wicked people on trial and face justice.
Sadly it will just radicalise more people against Muslims, which mostly are decent people and will be horrified by this.

I don't know how true it is, but one of the papers is reporting that the attacker was a convicted terrorist who had been released on licence - on condition he wore a tag. And he was in London to attend a conference on prisoner rehabilitation - which is where he started his attack.
Now people don't get released unless experienced people are certain that they pose no substantial risk to the public - so for this to be true, he convinced a panel that he fitted that criteria and was well thought of enough to be invited to attend a conference arranged by the University of Cambridge.
There will be a lot of finger pointing and blaming going on over the coming hours and days. But we cannot truly get inside the mind of someone like this.
Could this have been prevented? I don't honestly believe it could. Which is what makes it scary. When someone is that wrapped up in a disturbed and distorted world view, they are hard to stop unless you can catch them in the act of preparation. But a seemingly reformed prisoner attending a high profile academic conference would appear to pose little risk. And then he straps two knives to his hands and starts lashing out - murdering people.
Of course, the paper may be wrong.

Isn't it that he was released on licence after serving half his sentence.
The Parole Board have said he wasn't referred to them.

That is the problem with the criminal justice system, it sounds tough but is anything but that, when no one is looking the perpetrator gets released from their lenient sentence early, the media do nothing to mitigate this as they know a custodial sentence is expensive to implement , so it is absolute laughable that a judge sentences someone with a reasonable sentence for each crime then says ‘it is to be served concurrently’ or someone gets life then then told they must serve 12 years or such, life should be that and the press should mot use the term “life” unless it is a whole life sentence, if a judge sentences to so many *?) years the press should report how much they get in custody. If a judge sentences concurrently the press should report the average for each crime.
What is this early release for good behaviour? They should get extended sentence for bad behaviour instead?
Mind you the justice system got caught out over John Warboys. Mind you the black taxi services the establishment, which the government, justice system, media are along with the church.
