Big deals for this on Today Tix...sounds like an interesting premise.

Just out of this and I was very disappointed. I went on the strength of the reviews and premise and I figured it must have transferred for a reason. However, although Bayardelle's vocals are impressive and her acting is often great, it's hard to take her seriously in many of the emotional moments because the writing is very matter of fact and I felt it lacked tact. Occasionally it was almost comedic and it felt like something that would be in a comedy making fun of an amateur show attempting to be deep or something (if you've ever seen Summer Heights High it was verging on Mr. G's musical in terms of lyrics - luckily the compositions matched the tone). It's a shame because I think it could have been really affecting with the right lyrics but as it stands this is the only thing I've seen this year that I thought was actively bad.

Just out from seeing this.
As others have said, Bayardelle has an amazing singing voice, and to carry the whole of a 75 minute show is no mean feat. As a showreel for Bayardelle's talent, an edited version of this should be seen by casting agents.
However... the plot is wholly predictable, and there isn't enough here that's unexpected or delivered in a surprising enough way to compensate for that.
But then again... I'm not sure there's much 'wrong' with this - it's a decent piece of theatre with a strong central performance, I just think for where London (and the wider UK) is right now, with the current political discourse seemingly effecting everyone's moods negatively, that this is neither upbeat enough, nor (in the alternative) emotionally cathartic enough*, to land it anywhere other than solidly in 3 star territory.
Seat wise - I'd booked for the blue section via TodayTix, for a seat with a face value of £12, with a £3 fee on it. I got 'bumped up' to the red section, and as one of the first people into the auditorium was strongly encouraged (if not quite actually forced) to sit on the front 2 rows of that section. We ended up with maybe 60 - 70 people overall? I find it very hard to tell in that space! Leg room for me was snug but OK, I reckon if you're anything over 5 foot 8 you'll have your shins rammed up against the back of the row in front.
Also, the hand-dryer in the ladies wasn't working and there were no paper towels as a substitute.
*It didn't make me cry, which a piece of theatre can sometimes do, giving me a much needed moment of emotional release.
