Oh good heavens, not again! Hasn't Barbra Streisand been rumoured to be doing a film version of Gypsy for about 146 years now??
I agree that Melissa McCarthy probably isn't right for the role but it did make me think how they always age up when casting Madame Rose when at the start with the two young girls she's probably meant to be 30's? Maybe younger?
How about casting a younger actress/singer? Can Kelly Clarkson act, she would certainly deliver on the songs?

I also thought Streisand was involved in the film rights years ago and was going to star in it, direct it, produce it, write the theme tune...
In fact if anyone saw the play Buyer and Cellar there is a grest section when Barbara and the character in the play rehearse for it. It's very funny.
Seriously though do we actually need another version of it. We already have 2 and IMO the 2nd was nowhere near as good as the original.
Remakes seldom work.

I don't know whether she can sing it. In terms of acting she'd be a fascinating choice, and my guess is she'd do it very well. There's a LOT more to her than those loud comedies.
