There is theatre outside of London? Unfortunately there is. Tried to have it shut down but those Northerners rebelled. |

Would it not be easy enough to just have a general 'regional' section? There's no point having region specific boards because they wouldn't be used enough and most regional theatre is touring productions which tour, so.

Tours are tours and regional productions are just that local regional productions. And thats exactly what I originally wanted. Separate regional & international boards. Matthew's point about them not being used enough on old site is a mute one. This isn't the old site and shows lack of ambition of attracting new users. As I've said before lets be the theatre site for everyone. |

As I've said before lets be the theatre site for everyone. I understand the difference between regional theatre and tours, when I said regional theatre I was referring to the theatre in the regions. If you're in Bath, Bristol, Edinburgh, Dublin, Sheffield, Chichester etc. then there's a wealth of regional theatre produced, but if you're from the middle of the south coast, you're getting touring productions. This is why I agreed with you and suggested a general 'regional' board rather than specific areas as some were suggesting, so I agreed with you, no? |

As I've said before lets be the theatre site for everyone. There are two reasons why I think a Regional section is a bad idea: 1) It's been tried before and it failed. Your argument that this is a new site is moot, because it implies that the people who used WhatsOnStage are in some way a different type of person than those who will use this site. The factors that caused the failure of the old Regional section are still in play. 2) There's nothing about titles like "Plays" and "Musicals" that says "West End only", and having a separate section called "Regional" carries the implication that regional theatre is of secondary importance. It's not having a "Regional" section that sends the message "this is for everyone". The reason why we're echoing the structure of the old site isn't lack of ambition. It's because the structure of the old site is one that had been found to work. |

Just to add, the Feedback section (within Forum at the bottom of the main page) Is for members to make suggestions. Support for a suggestion can be shown by using the "like" button but regardless of that all suggestions will be discussed. After the official launch we don't want to be frequently changing the layout "in flight" as that becomes annoying for visitors who generally like to know where things are, however we may have more occasional updates where the ideas with most support all get implemented together.

Have we dropped the www.theatreboard.co.uk/ address - as its currently unreachable on IE and chrome on my PC. theatreboard.proboards.com/ seems to be working fine - thats how I am typing this. Is it a change, or a blip - or something my end - like BT's DNS ? |

Yes the "new" board started in Feb 2007 and had a rocky start - loads of spam posts and a particularly nasty troll which older members might remember! WoS were very resistant to the idea of registration.
... and Lee W did not seem to stay the course!!

Just a thought for the security conscious! As Matthew pointed out in a post on the old forum, we don't know if theatremania will actively shut down and remove the old site, or if it will just sit there as a dead site, with nobody looking after security etc.
So it might be an idea to modify your profile there to avoid any security issues - eg change your email address to one you don't mind being spammed, make sure your password is not one you use for other sites, make sure your birthday isn't set to your actual birthday, etc.
