Does anybody else have any theatre rituals/superstitions/habits? For myself, I’m more than happy to revisit a show within the year, but I’d have to break it up with another show. For example, I wouldn’t want my records to show that I saw Wicked, then Wicked, then Book of Mormon. I would need to book in another between the two Wickeds so it shows Wicked, Les Miserables, Wicked etc. (In reality I know that nothing will happen if I don’t do this, but my personal preference is to see variety 😂). On the subject of Wicked, I have now made it subconsciously that I return every third year, which I now feel like is a good amount of time to continue with moving forward. Also, since 2016 I have also seen a two parter play every year, which I would like to keep up with too, plus I’m having a double Arthur Miller day next year which is very satisfying!
It boils down to what looks nice on my tracker document, essentially. I’m more than aware that these are just little quirks that amount to nothing if I break them, but for my own personal satisfaction I like it that way. So now I’ve laid my cards (or shoes) on the table, does anyone else feel brave enough to share theirs?

I have very particular seats I have to see Matthew Bourne's ballet from in the WMC. And I admit to being very put out that I'm seeing Romeo and Juliet from the opposite side of the circle, albeit in the same seats. That's just me being a fussy bitch.
My one 'ritual ritual' is I have to touch the Larry statue outside the NT every time I go in. To the point I will make a detour to do it if I don't naturally pass it.

Whether I've performed, I always have to prepare for a show in the same order every night, oh and always pee.

I always used to touch up Larry when I went to The Nash too! Then he got another job and moved away to Stockton-on-Tees. The box office hasn't been the same since so I always have my tickets sent to me now.

I first read this thread three days ago. It has taken me until now to get the Blood Brothers reference (shoes upon the table).

I have only one superstition, and it isn't theatre-related: I will not do laundry on January 1st.

The only time I've ever heard of the "shoes on the table" superstition was through Blood Brothers. Has anyone here encountered it in any other context, or is it something invented for the show?

When I worked in M&S a customer made me put the shoes they were buying through the till without putting them down on the counter.
