Annoying there’s no Scottish dates! Would love to see this for Lorna Luft alone!

I thought Jessica Daley was the stand out when I saw it. I haven’t seen Jay in anything, can he act? I thought he was very good in "Big".

I said to my partner that there’s no Scottish dates and he said “we’ll just go wherever it’s playing” to which I replied that none of the places are easy to get to from where we live! Will just have to miss it, I suppose.

Right now I’m telling my younger self off for not going to see her in a previous production of White Christmas just up the road and now older me is facing a 4 hour plus journey! And they say we grow wiser...

There's still lots of availability for this at the Liverpool Empire where it pitches up for the festive season next week.
The vast majority of available seats for the opening night on Tuesday 6 December are discounted to just £20 with the code XMAS20 if you book with ATG by this Friday.
The only exceptions to the £20 offer are some of the seats at the extreme sides which are still their previous price (£12-£27.50).

Booked front row with my partner for Thursday (who I’m only taking because she took the piss out the poster 🤣). I love a good old fashioned musical with a gorgeous score, looking forward to this as I haven’t really felt Christmassy yet!

I went along to see the matinee in Sunderland on Saturday and really enjoyed it, especially Lorna.
The casting team really took "white christmas" literally though didn't they... I really don't think it is ok to have such an undiverse cast. We are in 2022 for goodness sake!

A lovely enjoyable night out! Never seen Jay before (or listened to the wanted) but was pleasantly surprised by his soft voice, thought he was brilliant - apparently so did the super fan behind me who “WOOO”ed at everything he did.
The snow falling down at the end is brilliant and the atmosphere is great. Michael Starke stood out as the general for me.

Had an email from ATG offering loads of seats for £20. Always a bit paranoid about links in emails though so logged in separately, but looks like they’ve removed the ability to add promo codes manually. (It’s XMAS20 if that’s any use to anyone.)
Noticed that there’s also a Theatrecard discount though, so had a £57.90 ticket for only £16.10. Been ages since I’ve had a bargain like that. Be pretty annoyed if I’d paid full price though.

Thanks for the heads up about the offer marob. I hadn't planned on a trip to the Empire to see this but with a front row stalls seat at £16, I'll be there on Sunday.

As 2022 draws to a close, a visit to the Liverpool Empire for a Sunday afternoon trip to the theatre (and who doesn't like a bit of Sunday theatre?) today for my last show of the year ended on a really positive note for me. Having seen it last year at the Manchester Palace and having a wonderful time, the opportunity for a rewatch at the bargain price of £16 from the front row of the stalls really was an opportunity too good to pass up and quite honestly was worth every penny. The show is still able to deliver the goods on a repeat viewing and provide that warm comforting feeling watching it and is a real antidote against this horrible winter weather.
As with the recent tour of "Singing in the Rain", "White Christmas" really is a good piece of old fashioned musical theatre with some fantastic songs and choreography performed by a stunning cast and orchestra. With a a bit of a rejig of roles at today's show due to Lorna Loft being absent due to illness, we had Sadie-Jean Shirley on as "Martha Watson" and I have to say was an absolute joy to watch and listen to up close. Her Act 1 solo "Let Me Sing And I'm Happy" was worth the ticket price alone. Jay McGuiness as "Bob Wilson" was a surprise hit with me. Both vocally and with the dancing he didn't disappoint, and his performance was far better in this than when I last saw him in "Sleepless". Local lad Michael Starke as the General was another one who i felt was a good watch today.
For me, it was those big ensemble dance numbers in those wonderful costumes that make this show. Making full use of the Empire stage, they really are a thing of beauty to see up close. It really is a shame that the good folk of Liverpool are not booking for this is any great number. They really are missing a treat here.

The film is on Amazon Prime at the moment. Interesting Wikipedia entry about Vera-Ellen who despite being in this timeless movie didn’t ever reach her full potential?
