The term legend can get banded around all to often with people, but in this case she truly was a legend. For me, the performance she gave at the Carole King Kennedy Center Honours in 2015 was seeing Aretha at her best. What she did in those few minutes in singing Natural Woman was just so magical and she totally owned that stage. Just watching it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up its that good. Thanks to You Tube, we will be able to enjoy seeing and hearing her doing that song for years to come.

Hard day today. When you read about her early life it's amazing that she clawed her way above it with a voice that rang out to us all. Aretha always had our respect and gave us pure joy with her voice

Very sad news she stayed close to her roots in Detroit and did so much to be admired for .

For me, the performance she gave at the Carole King Kennedy Center Honours in 2015 was seeing Aretha at her best. I LOVE that performance. Not only for the fact that she wore a full length fur coat for half of it, but that half way through she obviously gets a bit hot and takes it off while still singing and then just CHUCKS IT ON THE FLOOR! Now that is the Queen of Soul ladies and gentlegerms.

Queen of soul. Choir decided last night we're putting our Aretha numbers back in for the next concert.
Look up the Kennedy Center honours performance- Lady comes on in her fur coat and bag, makes Obama cry and sings the roof of as per. And the joy in the audience is amazing.

I think it's her 'all right, now it's time to let rip!' signal - the audience would usually cheer when she did it.
