Liu Yefei is a singer as well as an actress, so it would seem an odd choice not to include the songs after casting her in the role. I’m not reading too much into that press release yet, fingers crossed.

I don't mind them filming the story of Mulan (well, this kitschy Disney interpretation of the legend) without songs, as hers is simply a cracking good story and I'd generally like to see more Asian stories on screen. Pleases me more than pointless stuff like the new Lion King rehash.
When it comes to "Mulan with songs" I'd kill to see that one done live on stage with some Chinese martial arts and artistry thrown in, there's so much potential there and some fabulous roles for under-represented Asian performers.

I don't mind a remake (and I'm continually surprised that other theatre fans, who'll happily see Hamlet after Hamlet and love comparing different Elphabas, do), especially as the presence of a new film doesn't negate the existence of the old one, but I do have to wonder what's the point of "live action" remakes of animal-heavy films. Don't get me wrong, I am HERE for Donald Glover playing Simba, but... there's nothing live action about CGI lions, is there...?

I immediately lost interest after reading this: same, was so happy to read they do Mulan but without the songs i lost all intererest
Mulan is one of my fave Disney Musicals, they could easily done a singing live movie version
still waiting on Merida, Moana or Tangled but no, we get a Lion King movie, boring,sigh
