I absolutely loved it. A beautiful piece of art. I must say I am not a fan of Lin Manuel Miranda at all. Seems like a nice guy, but his acting, singing and composing are not suitable for professional projects in my opinion. I can understand his acting and singing but his composing isn’t suitable for professional projects? Really? A lot of music he has written has been incredibly successful. Disney are currently having tremendous success with Encanto thanks to his composing.

"success" and "professional" are 2 very different concepts, unfortunately. But that leads to a bigger discussion about the current entertainment climate and the state of audiences.

But this is only your opinion. 'Not to my taste' would have been fair enough. 'Not professional' is not true, however you personally feel about his music. And it's insulting to the people who enjoy his work to dismiss them as the current 'state of audiences', many people are fans of all kinds of composers including the more 'highbrow' and include Lin Manuel Miranda's work in that.

How can you say his composing isn’t suitable for progressional projects? 😂😂 He has had incredible success and popularity with nearly everything he’s written.

Love the ridiculousness of this take. big dose of nonsense. the man has brought in big new audiences, produced blockbuster hits and topped charts across the land. Poster should probably examine their own place within "the current entertainment climate and the state of audiences."

Yes, his ‘Hamilton’ was patchy at best. 😂

In your opinion, many find it to be an incredibly well written and intelligent musical. Especially lyrically Yes, his ‘Hamilton’ was patchy at best. 😂

Have you ever been on the internet before? The laughing face emoji indicates that I’m laughing while I’m saying it…no? I don’t think I’d have seen it so many times if I really thought that would I? But, y’know welcome to the board.

I do apologise, I read Dan and wrongly assumed you were the original poster so took your laughing emoji as sarcasm. Now know why I prefer reading this board rather than actually posting Have you ever been on the internet before? The laughing face emoji indicates that I’m laughing while I’m saying it…no? I don’t think I’d have seen it so many times if I really thought that would I? But, y’know welcome to the board.

If LMM is sh*t then we should toss Alex Lacamoire in there too. Given he orchestrates his work…
🙄
I mean. Not professional? Geez.
Sondheim was a fan, so that’s good enough for me.

Who Knew David Hunter hung out on this board sometimes.... Hi David! 👋🤣 Producers I can still understand, but shouldn't creatives/actors/artists stay away from forums for their own sanity?

Awards season has reminded me to renew my Netflix and see this! So glad I did. Poignant doesn’t even begin to cover it. Love all the similarities/references to SITPWG. (Who knew we needed *two* shows about a struggling artist not recognised in his lifetime & the havoc the creative process plays with ones emotional life?!) AG needs to be in every musical film from now on but especially (as others have said) a Miranda-helmed reimagining of RENT.
