'Prom Queen'

You do make a good point there, but this one says its based on a true story about a boy taking his school to court over him not being able to take his boyfriend to prom, sounds like an interesting story and not just a gay story where the plot is about coming out (ala Love Simon).

Its being presented in the main space, with a monday matinee too!

This sounds very similar to The Prom which is heading to Broadway later this year, here's the synopsis

"They used to be the toast of Broadway, now their careers are toast—and they’re desperate for a new stage. So when these four stars hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town Indiana prom—and the press is involved—they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves.
