Don't think I've seen this play mentioned here. Has anybody seen it? Is anybody here planning on watching it?

I've booked to see it on tour, so I'd be interested in any early feedback from Kingston or wherever.

Odd that there seem to be no reports so far; I was considering this as something to do in the evening last Saturday after spending the day nearby with my sister, but she postponed the trip as the engineering work put her off. So now I've missed the chance to see it nearby. it'd have to be really good to make me travel further and it doesn't sound at all my normal sort of thing - but trying something different can be rewarding.

2 stars from Essential Surrey, which calls it "hammy" and 3 from WOS, which compares it unfavourably to the original production with 2 leads, one of whom was SRB.

I saw the RSC production in 1991 which had Roger Allam as Jekyll and SRB as Hyde. Remember it as pretty good, some cool illusions for the change. Dont really like Daniels so fiving this a miss

Saw this today at the Grand Theatre in Blackpool. Overall, an enjoyable afternoon’s entertainment. As it is the first time I’ve seen a version of this, I’ve no other versions to compare it to. I thought Phil Daniels played the dual role well, though I must admit, I thought his Scottish accent at times did verge on Rab C Nesbitt at times but it didn’t detract from the show in anyway.
The lighting in this production in my opinion really helped bring out the gothic horror of the story and the sound effects during the murder of one character really were too realistic, causing the audience (including myself) to wince!

Seen in Cambridge this evening, one of the worst things I've seen at the theatre and two hours of my life I'll never get back.

I saw this on tour a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty dire. I don't remember too much of it but what I remember is that a) I don't like Phil Daniels (I was blissfully unaware of him up until this point) and b) never ever use doorknobs in a production where people have to go through doors a lot (honestly, the amount of actors who ran into doors was insane and in the scene where they "break" through the door, you can see them turn the doorknob after which made me burst out laughing - not the effect you want).

It was not very good. I appreciated the opportunity to see some regular Globe actors on a different stage, but that's not much of an upside compared with how much the entire play was a downside.
