My partner and I are celebrating the new year with friends on New year's Day and liked the idea of going to a show on NYE but I assume that given it falls on a Sunday there won't be much, if anything, on? Any hints?

Everybody's talking about Jamie has a 7.30pm performance on NYE, and quite a few shows should at least have an afternoon performance, e.g. School of Rock (2pm) and Matilda (3pm). Our very own @theatremonkey has all the information you want on his web site: theatremonkey.com/daybydayindex.htm#HOLEdit: Just seen the headline and that you're specifically asking about Plays. Just ignore my recommendations above and browse TM's web site.

Young Marx has its very last performance on the afternoon of NYE. Loads of seats still available.

Ditto Big Fish, last performance at 2.30, but a small scattering of single seats left.

Going to a play or a show on NYE is a brilliant idea. It takes up that part of the evening before the parties start so you can go on to the party with lots to say or it can be an excuse for not going to the party cos you need to get back...
