Has anyone else been watching this? It's an 8-part TV series based on a comic/graphic novel and it's damn-near perfect! Don't be put off by the first 10 minutes - it's utterly charming, sharp, smart script, superb performances, particularly from the young leads, a great indie-film look and feel, fab soundtrack, unusual locations, a real gem. All 8 short episodes are on All4 and it's one of the few times I've bingewatched a series in one go (I get migraines). There's so much fuss about Stranger Things 2 and hardly anything about this, which is surprising because it's so, so good.
And no, I'm not related to anyone involved! From time to time you come across a show that's so brilliant you just want to shout about it, and this is one of them.

Thank you for starting this thread!! Was going to myself after I'd finished watching it. This wasn't on my radar at all but after watching the C4 continuity announcers having fun saying the title pre-watershed, that was enough to have me intrigued & I'm so glad I gave it a go because I agree with all you say above! I was pretty much hooked instantly and watched the second ep last night. I'm quite a good non-binging, so even with all eps in front of me I just watched the one (I usually do my TV catch up in bed, so any more and I'd be seeing the sun rise!) so I'm very much looking forward to the next 6, one of the most enjoyable (if that's the right word!) things I've watched recently. Can't wait to get stuck into Stranger Things 2 as well, just hoping it lives up to the hype.

When you say the episodes are short, how short? I'm intrigued, but there's a LOT of TV appeared suddenly, gotta plan it all very carefully if I'm to fit it all in.

As theatremadness says, just over 20 minutes without the adverts - on All4 the middle ad break is only about a minute, which is thoughtful of them! On ITV Player you have to sit through a lot. Yes, there's a lot of interesting-sounding TV coming up, and those 10 hour American series are a big commitment, especially when you get 6 episodes in and hear there's a second series so you think oh, loose threads and no payoff - is this going to be another 'Lost'?

As a side note - if you happen to have SkyGo (or access to a SkyGo account as you're allowed to share on up to 4 devices I think...thank you, sister!) then it also gives you access to box sets from all channels where, seemingly, you can watch full episodes with no ad breaks before or during the episode. So far, I've been able to watch Family Guy from ITV2 and this from All4 straight through. Modern Family though, from SkyOne, has adverts before and during. But one way to cut down time from other channels!

No, I've got a Freeview box on the telly, and Now TV on a computer which gives me HBO / Sky Atlantic stuff like Game of Thrones, Twin Peaks and Tin Star (which I reluctantly gave up on, because despite the good cast the script wasn't great, and desktop viewing isn't comfortable!) - I think Curb Your Enthusiasm is on there too but I haven't got round to it yet. Too much telly! The BBC's Detectorists, Peaky Blinders and Howards End are all demanding my attention in November.

I caught up with episode one of this last night and found it rather odd...! The two young leads seemed very familiar, and when I Googled them I realised that I’d seen Alex Lawther most recently playing the older Christopher Robin in Goodbye, Christopher Robin. I remembered Jessica Barden from the TV version of Sadie Jones’ The Outcast. She was also in Corrie some years back!
Reminded me of an offbeat, comedy version of C4’s Born To Kill that was on TV a few months back.

If you like 80s/90s Indie/American indie films, indie comics or series like Utopia it has that sort of vibe - the cast includes Sightseers' Steve Oram, Peep Show's Superhans and GoT's Gemma Whelan too. Alex Lawther is excellent in one of the best Black Mirror episodes, Shut up and Dance (pretty dark, but worth watching - I think it's on Netflix).

Thank you for recommending this show! I'm loving it! Alex Lawther is excellent in one of the best Black Mirror episodes, Shut up and Dance (pretty dark, but worth watching - I think it's on Netflix). I knew I had seen him somewhere! I loved that episode!

I knew I had seen him somewhere! Just announced in The Jungle at the Young Vic too, which is rather nice because I'm already seeing it.

The second series of this is now available on All 4 and I'm glad to say it's excellent. I was a bit sceptical about a follow-up (the comic it's based on is a self-contained story) but they pull it off superbly.
