Last time I went to this theatre I commented that all the cheaper seats appeared to have been sold, obliging anyone booking to pay the higher price, yet on the day the performance was sparsely attended and the Box Office assistant could not explain what had happened. Some of us had a discussion about this but I've started a thread as I've noticed that the same thing seems to have happened again.
If you look at the Thursday matinee of Twilight Song by Kevin Elyot (a play I would have expected to appeal to some of us here, since he also wrote My Night With Reg and the Kings Head currently houses a revival of his Coming Clean) on 20 July, you can see this situation replicated. I know from experience that it's hopeless to ring the Box Office as they never answer, but this means they are potentially losing my business. It's one thing to try to seat people together to create a busier effect in one part of the auditorium - if that is the explanation - but another if this forces them to pay more or not go. Maybe it's time for the Park Theatre itself to come clean!

I think your suspicions are correct - I was looking at Twilight Song for this evening, until yesterday lots of seats available (so I didn't book on the grounds they were bound to discount ) , then suddenly appears to be almost sold out. Maybe a last minute booking surge but seems odd!

15% discount on perfs until July 22 with the code POSTCARD, if that helps. (Not with the strange availability issues but with the discount obvs)

Thank you both for the responses - and for the deal, n1david. My issues are, firstly that it's unclear to potential customers what's happening and secondly, it impacts those unwilling or unable to pay the higher price (for seats rated "A") or entitled, as I am, to the concession rate for matinees. Concessions are only available on "B" seats but it's those which are greyed out. 15% is a good discount but the difference between the normal prices for the 2 seat types is £8, and the deal would save less than half that amount.
I shall wait for the reviews, by which time perhaps the situation will have changed, or someone will have challenged the theatre about this.

Now, there are lower-priced side seats for sale online at the next two Thursday matinees (I haven't bothered looking at later ones). Maybe the booking plan was being updated when you took your peek?

I usually phone and they do answer. Strange.

Mysterious indeed. And though it's possible that, as HG suggests, the booking system was being updated when I looked, xanderl also noticed something odd and as above, it's not the first time I've seen this. However, if it has reverted to normal now, maybe they know they've been rumbled?!
