Theatremania, the current owners of former theatre website Whatsons***e have been bought by Audienceview "a world leader in e-commerce software for events and entertainment organizations"
Apparently "AudienceView and TheaterMania have long shared a common vision and passion to help entertainment organizations build devoted communities and fulfill their missions" which does make you wonder why they shut down the old forum.

Apparently "AudienceView and TheaterMania have long shared a common vision and passion to help entertainment organizations build devoted communities and fulfill their missions" That's disturbingly reminiscent of the way the TheaterMania merger / acquisition / swallowing of WhatsOnStage was presented. I think a significant part of it was that we wouldn't let go of the way TheaterMania got rid of Terri Paddock. They got a lot of unwelcome attention over that and we were the part of that attention they could conceal from the public. It wasn't entirely successful, given that the Streisand effect kicked in and everyone started wondering what we'd said about TheaterMania that would justify hiding the entire forum. Let's hope WhatsOnStage survives this. |

Interesting move, AudienceView are obviously looking for ways to diversify away from their traditional roots of ticketing systems.
AV's major U.K. clients include AFC Bournemouth, Wembley, acc Liverpool, The Ticket Factory and ATG Tickets.
