I have a friend coming over frm Italy in the summer and she wants to go to the Globe ( King Lear ) it's years since I've been to the Globe and was wondering if someone could remind me do the seats have backs ( is it only the ones that have the wall as a back ) ? I know how painful the backless seats in the SWP are !!!
Thanks in advance.

Yes, they're just wooden benches. I'd definitely recommend getting a seat on the back row so you have a wall behind you. I've always found the lower gallery to be best, the back row seats there have more buttock space (both in terms of width and depth) than the other seats.

You can hire a cushion and a portable seat back thing (unlike the SWP where you can't). Never tried one though.
Like Bee, I tend to go for the back row if I can.

I usually avoid the lower gallery-I found staring over peoples heads distracting plus groundlings can be noisy :-) I usually go for the middile gallery bay H,as have been said with the last row you have a wooden wall to lean against.I tend to being an thin custion to use in addition to the globe one just for a bit of extra padding.
