There was some drama about her forgetting the lyrics and giggling on stage and the judges not standing up to ovate her performance.

I've never really seen the appeal in Idina Menzel. While she does have a pretty voice, it is often far too shouty and just very poor technique overall. After hearing her live in NYC, I must say I don't see the appeal that sends the theatre community raving on her performances.

I love Idina, but I get where you are coming from. Her technique is... questionable 😂
I think she’s absolutely charming though, and she has turned in some iconic performances. She just has “it”, whatever it is.

She just has “it”, whatever it is. This, basically. With Elphaba and Elsa she can probably lay claim to have originated the greatest female musical roles of the last 20 years, with a bit of Rent and Glee for extra musical cred. But where she excels is on stage in her own concerts and I suppose you either get it or you don’t. As a fan I find it a bit annoying that she actually lacking in broadway musical credits, but who knows what’s in the works.

To my ears, it's shrill and unpleasant. She's not alone though. Pop music is full of people with voices that I don't enjoy. It seems to be a 21st century thing that vocalists who would have been given short shrift in earlier times, are lauded and become pop stars. I blame tv talent shows and the need to find something "different".

People in that Twitter thread desperate for her to be going into the London production of Wicked or starring in the film as Elphaba. Lol.

Don’t know if its mentioned further back, buf there is a great documentary on Disney + about her tour. I think it was called ‘Which Way To The Stage?’.

Just watched it. It was good,
Good to see some insights of being informed with the cast of Rent of Jonathan Larson's death and the reversal footage of Wicked.
