Oh yes, that's true, it was my first visit to the Park 90 for that very same play (which was really bad by the way).

I used to go to the Charing Cross when it was The Players but the new layout made this seem like a totally different space. I've been to both the Players and Charing Cross theatres but the layout seems the same to me.

I was thinking of the Players in the mid 70s - I have slept a lot since then so maybe all that sleep distorted my view.

It was refurbished in 2002, with new seats and a slightly different layout - still the two blocks, but slightly fewer seats per row and extra, flexible rows at the front. The stage can be extended out, which does make the place feel different. That may be what you mean, buddyvlc? Probably - I don't remember it being raked before.

I went to the Old Vic for the first time in about 10 years (to my shame given it is very close)
London: Union Theatre (just before the move, so I can count it again this year!)

I really like this thread. Maybe we can have a similar ongoing one throughout 2017 so we can 'review' any new Theatres we go to along the way.

www.thestage.co.uk/opinion/2017/mark-shentons-top-6-uk-theatres-cant-wait-visit/Three of these are amongst my favourites: the Tobacco Factory, the Yard, and The Other Place. The other three I've also never visited but have seen some of their work elsewhere: New Diorama, HOME, and Camden People's Theatre. I think he hits the nail on the head when he says that the more regularly you attend your preferred theatres, the harder it is to pay proper attention to the others! I think the answer is to cut all the duty or worthy visits and just follow your nose. Don't worry about what you might be missing but seek out what might be most exceptional or extraordinary in some way.

Don't worry about what you might be missing but seek out what might be most exceptional or extraordinary in some way. The only one I don't know is The Yard. The New Diorama has a great 'feel' as a theatre, confidently out of place in the middle of a posh development. CPT has a low rent bohemian vibe, perfectly in tune with its programme. Home is the sort of theatre that Manchester needed, cosmopolitan and bursting with life.
