Is there an equivalent to theatremonkey for regional theatres? Or can anyone here give me some advise on the mayflower theatre in Southampton? I want to book some tickets for billy Elliot and all the best stalls tickets have gone for the day I can do and I begrudge paying £65 for back of the stalls or circle. What is the balcony like there?

I think a regional theatremonkey would be a fantastic idea - maybe there'd be enough of us outside London who could contribute?

Always happy to accept notes for venues, and this board is indeed the place to ask for other venues, galinda, everyone does it . Brilliant, Theatremonkey, as I often wish your invaluable site stretched as far as outer London and beyond. I'm sure lots of us could indeed contribute feedback.

How about we do this on here then? Save @theatremonkey a bit of work and i've already talked this over with him.
We are happy to create a thread in which people can input info on their local theatres or other regional theatres they visit, seating plans, seat opinions, recommendations and so on.
Would people be up for contributing to such a thread if we set one up?

Absolutely, though I'm not very technical; opinions, however, I can supply aplenty!
Might it help if interested members started by suggesting venues/locations, to see if there was enough material to collate?

That's what I was thinking. There's no point if its all clumped into this topic.
A theatre per topic within region threads within a Best Seat thread.

And with special threads for people who are compelled to always sit on an aisle or to avoid all interaction with politicians.

Just to reply to your question the Mayflower is a big theatre and you will feel far away from the back of any of the levels. Especially from the balcony though you'd get a clear view. Like any balcony leg space is tight View wise I'd say the back of the stalls isn't bad, barring the overhang. I recall thinking how the back of the dress/grand circle is like looking through a letter box

I can help with Birmingham Hippodrome/New Alexandra, New Wimbledon Theatre, Salford Lowry What about a sub-forum, with a thread for each venue as and when they crop up? We could pin the first post in each thread with venue info, box office etc, and a seating plan showing general value for money (obviously the prices change much more regionally so it could only ever be a guide)

A thread on theatres not covered by theatremonkey which can gradually be populated with useful practical information.
