Sad to hear this. I also saw him as the Narrator a few times between 2006 and 2008. His narrator was a menacing presence and he had a great voice, which especially complemented Lyn Paul's very well. RIP

Any rumours on who will be Mrs Johnstone in the upcoming tour? I haven’t seen Blood Brothers for years so would like to see it again, but Mrs J may be the deal breaker.

She has been associated with the show before, but hasn't been in it for years. She is not in her sixties or seventies. I personally am delighted. Official press release is imminent, but not confirmed when exactly. There will be a new Sammy.

Oh, thanks very much. “Hasn’t been in it for years” suggests probably not Linzi Hateley - is 2018 “for years”? 🤣 I’m trying to think of other Mrs Js that are not a Nolan and in their 60s/70s though. Mel C and someone from Atomic Kitten (Natasha?) are the only ones that come to mind. Although “associated with the show” could mean previously in a different role. You have my interest now anyway. 😄

Vivienne Carlyle was sensational. Hope it’s her.

I’ve been informed by Mrs Dan that we WILL be seeing the show again when it comes to our seaside town in September. So at least there’ll be new cast worth getting excited for!

Vivienne Carlyle will be Mrs Johnstone! I've been waiting for years to see her again, I am so excited! Further cast: Sean Jones and Joe Sleight will return to the production as twins Mickey and Eddie, while Gemma Brodrick will reprise the role of Linda. Also returning are Sarah Jane Buckley (as Mrs Lyons), Scott Anson (as Narrator), Tim Churchill (as Mr Lyons), Chloe Pole (as Donna Marie), Alex Harland (as Policeman/Teacher), Graeme Kinniburgh (as Postman/Bus Conductor) and Jess Smith (as Brenda). New additions to the cast include James Ledsham (as Sammy), Ben Mabberley (as Perkins) and Dominic Gore (as Neighbour). www.whatsonstage.com/news/blood-brothers-reveals-casting-for-autumn-2024-uk-tour_1615605/

Really disappointed with this casting, wish they'd get someone new to play Mrs J!

Really disappointed with this casting, wish they'd get someone new to play Mrs J! On this occasion they had too many new shows to cast, so they decided to go with someone they already knew could do it, is my understanding.

Saw her several times as Mrs Lyons and Mrs Johnstone including the final performances in London. Slightly surprised as they usually get a name. But she's got a great voice.
Seeing Everybody's Talking about Jamie this week, I did wonder how long will it be before Sam Bailey is cast?

Apparently she is still a rated performer in her native Scotland, and the tour is there for a solid month (consecutive weeks) so that may play a part. Llike Rebecca Storm usually doing the Dublin/Irish dates.

On an advert for the show for Cardiff, one person wondered if they would stay true to Liverpool, or adapt it to Cardiff.

Saw it for the 96th time in Blackpool on Saturday.
There are four new members of cast - although Vivienne Carlyle has of course been in it before. And she was certainly worth the wait!
I always like to see the new dynamic when there has been a cast change, and it didn't disappoint this time.
James Ledsham is a great new Sammy!
If I have to nitpick - it didn't look right that the three new lads in the cast all sported stubble. Bit weird to see Perkins with a 5 o'clock shadow.
The line 'Ain't life a bitch' has been cut from the bus scene again, and there is now a policeman on the balcony on the set as well at the end.

Possibly another first for the show:
The guitarist in the band had to go to A&E with a show to go.
Luckily Ben Mabberley, who plays Perkins, is also a musician who can sight-read, and saved the day!

I've only seen this once - in London.
For Mrs Johnstone we were expecting a Nolan, but Gillian Kirkpatrick was on. I think she'd sung one line when I thought: "Wow, I'm glad we've got you!". She was fantastic.

Some of the friends i made through the community will be there, so will just have a few drinks with them before the show. 😃
