Looks like this is going back out on tour
Bord Gais Theatre Dublin 18th - 21st January 2017
The quote the Bord Gais Site ........ "Joey McKneely’s award-winning staging of West Side Story, the only production in the world to currently feature Jerome Robbins’ original choreography, comes to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre as part of a global tour."

I thought every production HAD to have the original chography in it (hence why it's as stale as month old bread)?

Generally it does (boo hiss) a few years ago the Komishe Oper (Berlin) pulled a few tricks and an exception was made.
Generally you stuck with it. Such a shame.

Saw it when it first toured and it was very slick and tight. Saw it last time is was out and sadly the same couldn't be said. It needs two very strong leads, but had neither.
I don't mind seeing the same choreography as long as it's performed to the standard that it shoud be. They always use that very dynamic publicity photo of the boys in mid-air but last time I saw the show you would have been hard pressed to recognise the move. It was there but was performed so shoddily that all impact was lost. I don't think half of them were even off the ground at the same time as the others.

It's not like I could remember every move after not seeing the show for +10 years, so I don't mind the original choreography when it's well done.
When was this last seen in the West End? I honestly wouldn't mind this turning up for a big fresh revival some time.

I am very exited for it! I hope this production is good but we will just have to wait and see.

How about a great big appropriately cast revival? Actual Latin performers as Sharks, not just whichever auditionees have the most olive-toned skin? *dreams*

Isn't it a case there are never any big revivals because of the choreography issues?
And remember kids - u can't spell choreography without chore

Seeing this on Friday... please forgive my ignorance but does anyone know if this is a brand new cast or are there familiar names in this production?

This tour is currently in Dubai (or about to head there?). I was tempted but I had no idea about the producers or the company so I stayed away.

Revive this as a way to annoy Trump. "Me gusta estar en America..."

Seeing this on Friday... please forgive my ignorance but does anyone know if this is a brand new cast or are there familiar names in this production? Depends on whether you follow regional theatre in the US. No really big or too familiar name if you don't in it but a wonderful cast (saw the production in Germany some weeks ago). Especially Keely Beirne as Anita and Kevin Hack as Tony were fantastic imo.

This tour is currently in Dubai (or about to head there?). I was tempted but I had no idea about the producers or the company so I stayed away. it will be in Dubai in February. The tour is produced by BB Promotions, one of the biggest live entertainment companies in Germany, directed by Joey Mckneely and features Jerome Robbins’ original choreography. It's the same production that is on in Dublin this week touring around mainly Europe at the moment.
