Are there understudies for this show? This is Manchester babe. Unless your leg's hanging off you bloody get on that bloody stage and perform. It's not Dreamgirls!

Definitely side more with The Stage's view. Loved it. Kaisa Hammarlund is perfect casting for the lead, and everything else about the production was spot on too. Will certainly be making a return visit.

Would so love to see this and am willing to make a day or weekend trip; issue is blasted trains, as not only do Virgin have dire "previous" in my recent experience (abandoned us completely part-way outbound and return trip not much better, such that I eventually got a 100% refund of my RT), but it's now looking impossible to get to London with Southern to start the London - Manchester leg. Anyone please have more experience of Virgin Trains + able to advise whether they are generally more reliable than I found? Wondering whether a coach would be better, if far slower.

Yes, I use them VT to London regularly. Everyone who does has a horror story of being hideously let down at some point but to be fair they're usually pretty reliable.

I've never really had a problem with Virgin apart from the seat booking system almost always being down so they can't guarantee you the seats you booked.
Earlier this year I was on a train to Manchester from Euston and about three minutes in the train ground to a halt because the emergency brake had been triggered after going through a red signal or something. Took about ten minutes to get going again, still it's nice to know they work.
The only other thing I remember is making an unscheduled stop in Rugby I think because a woman had gone into labour; I think we can allow that!

Just back from the final performance of this brilliant, inventive and very moving production. I had seen it three weeks ago and it has grown, and flowed and was so full of detail. There was some set missing tonight, thanks to faulty flying and hydraulics, but that mattered not one iota....a brilliant, sexy cast being simply wonderful.

Really, REALLY annoyed that I didn't get to see this. Sometimes life gets in the way of all the best laid plans. Glad people enjoyed it though.

The dressing room mirrors didn't come down did they? And was there set missing in I'm A Brass Band? Either way I loved it again and she was absolutely heartbreaking in her vulnerability and depair at the end. Good to see it was sold out at the end.

Yep, there were no mirrors at all, and they seem to have been removed from the flies. Nikki and Helene still got out their cleaning stuff but had nothing to do with them. And then the elevator did not rise at all. But it didn't matter, it was still a huge pleasure watching the sexy cast strut their not inconsiderable stuff.....heavens, how many quick changes did they have!

I understand part of the flying system failed a couple of weeks ago, which necessitated an evacuation and show cancellation (or did it restart later?). Anyway, flying system was removed to complete the run.

Ah, thanks for that. I did like the mirrors as they gave Big spender an added layer and a context, and introduced the stage language of the show. Without them the girls looked a bit exposed on stage, but it is still a great staging of that number.
