New mini-series on Sky ‘based’ on the 70’s Frederick Forsyth thriller, with Eddie Redmayne as the titular assasin & Lashana Lynch as the MI6 agent nominally on his tail. First episode was all set up and bored Mrs B (“this is a boy programme…I’m out”) but I watched 3 back to back yday and found it thrilling.

I watched 2 last night and really enjoyed it, just about to turn on the TV and watch a couple more.
Can someone tell me if this is a remake of the original film or new plots?

The original novel & film are about an assassination attempt on Charles De Gaulle. I thinking the soapy family stuff is an addition and I very much doubt that Forsyth would have had a black female co-lead back in the 70’s. It is very much a modernisation.
