The announcement has been made today that the Stratford branch of Sadler's Wells will open in February. The programme includes - unsurprisingly - a lot of hip hop but other stuff too. For example May features a Birmingham Royal Ballet BRB2 initiative - Carlos Acosta's Ballet Celebration: Diaghilev and the Birth of Modern Ballet. As a local I am glad to see that there is also a public performance space and, of course, a cafe.

Not really my cup of tea but I'll check it out when it opens. I'm looking forward to V&A East.

I used to go SW a lot, it become quite expensive and lot of the quirky stuff (plus opera) disapeared. Thankfully this new season looks appealing. Is this the business model for SW Islington - Matthew Bourne Hub, with a musicals and a few big name dance companies Peacock - the snowman and random touring musicals Straford - The interesting stuff
