When the TheatreBoard meet-ups happened back in the day they tended to be pre-matinee with people having a drink somewhere in the WE before each going to whatever show they’d booked.
I think there might have been one at West End Live too?

If we're going 'on tour' I'd be happy to arrange something in Liverpool or Bristol.

I guess it’s tricky as there are so many different things on at once so more difficult to find a general meet up ( compared to say ballet where I know forums do meet up in intervals but that’s much easier as fewer productions and fewer venues!). Yes, it's a lot easier with ballet. I spent 14 years seeing opera at the ROH without ever meeting up with anyone but once I started going to ballet I started recognising regular attendees & now, after a few years, I can almost always find people I'm acquainted with to have a chat with in the intervals.

I looked at Meetup in my local area to find activities, especially reading or theatre groups, but to sign up you had to post a photo of yourself online - why? I post as little & as privately as possible on social media & some forms I only use as there's no alternative (eg my local rail user group uses the ghastly FB, which looks a complete mess & is hard to navigate), but for a local, in-person activity? I'd be going as myself, not as an anonymous or pseudonymous user name, so I don't see the need. Maybe people who have grown up with social media and are used to splattering personal information far & wide online wouldn't object, but it's a red line for me.

A mandatory photo seems like a slightly odd requirement to me but one way around could be to make a digital avatar or a memoji that looks roughly like you.

Last time we met in the pub type place at the National. Didn’t take us much awkward “are you here for theatre meet up?” Soon found each other. I also met people years ago, when we all got tickets for Mrs Affleck (2009?) at the National (just posted which performance and we all bought our own tickets, matinee Saturday) and we met in a nearby pub. That led to me reviewing theatre for one of the people I met there for over 100 shows in Oxford! Also met a friend who still meets with me for theatre all these years later! She’s the best to theatre with as she doesn’t think it odd to see 2 shows in a day, is always on time, and doesn’t talk in the show or rustle sweets etc. plus no stress as to whether the play is good or not!!!!

I'd love to meet up with some people, make some friends It's just me and my boyfriend, and as much as I love him, I do also enjoy going to a show on my own sometimes (and sometimes he's just not interested in what I want to see and visa versa). But it would also be nice to have a buddy to meet up with once in a while, and see a show/do something. Boyfriend has got his own friends around anyways, I moved to England just over 5 years ago, and without him around, it's just me really.

So coming back to this - it seems like there might be at least a small group interested in trying to meet up?
I’m happy to start a new thread to see if we could arrange a London meet up? I’m guessing one Saturday late afternoon/early eve Ning so people could go onto any theatre afterwards? May need suggestions for locations!

I think a couple of previous meet ups were held in the foyer of the NT between matinee and evening shows.
