Saw this tonight via an NT Live screening at a local cinema.
I enjoyed it - but it wasn't how I expected it to be? Andrew Scott was obviously superb, and I did really get into some moments of it - mostly when it was very clear exactly who was doing what. At other times, the lines between characters seemed very blurred. Maybe that was the point? I'm not sure. Anyway, yes, I enjoyed it, but overall it felt a little like 'Anton Chekhov's "Rosencratz and Vanya are Dead"', if you understand what I mean?
I've given it 4 stars on the voting poll.

Saw this tonight at my local theatre on the big screen. Phenomenal. Did the movie version do anything extra (eg subtitles with character names) to signal who the characters, that Andrew Scott was playing at any given time, were, that the theatre audience would not have seen? Saw this recently myself. The close-ups and production values are absolutely brilliantly done, but beyond that nothing extra is added. Stunning flex from Andrew Scott, interesting choice of show as it's not quite Chekov, but close enough to make the critics and hard-core theatre types sit-up and take notice.

So happy for Vanya to come to NT at Home soon! Still bummed there’s no Present Laughter in the said streaming service. (This is very much requested by fans. Every time there is a throwback post on PL, all the comments basically request for the proshot to be included in the NT at Home library)
