A pity there's no matinees, not even in Cardiff. I may well have gone if I could have done it in a day trip but I don't think I want to see it enough to pay for an overnight stay.

You can get back to London from Oxford at any time of night pretty much. The coach services can be your friend

I don't think any production of Candide can beat that unforgettable Menier version !

There's always next time, Dawnstar. When does the Varsity Line fully reopen?

I LOVE Candide, so disappointed that I won’t be able to get to this. As said above, there is no matinee and no weekend show in Birmingham (probably my closest venue).
I really enjoyed the Menier production too. It was a really inventive staging. However, my favourite was the LSO concert for the Bernstein centenary. The memory of ‘Make Our Garden Grow’ with a full orchestra and being sung full throttle still puts tears in my eyes and gives me goosebumps at the memory.

Let's not forget the excellent NT production of 1999, with a top notch cast: Simon Russel Beale, Daniel Evans, Clive Rowe and Dennis Quiley.

The X5 is not what it once was, sadly The route seems to have been literally cut in half, with it only running Oxford-Bedford & another bus needed to go onto Cambridge. Quite why anyone thought making the already notoriously poor transport links between Oxford & Cambridge even worse was a good idea beats me. There's always next time, Dawnstar . When does the Varsity Line fully reopen? At the rate it's going probably not in my lifetime!

In Brum its at the Alex and not the Hippodrome, i thought this may due to Levelling up agenda but its due the Lion King having a long stay
