That's a much better deal than most of the 'ticket protection' schemes which require onerous proof of why you have to cancel.

Looks like you now have to cancel 48 hours ahead so not quite as useful. At a 10% fee could be a pricy addition too!

They have worked out that fewer than 1 in 10 tickets get cancelled, so what people pay for the insurance covers their costs. (If they manage to resell any cancelled tickets, they're quids in.)
Which makes me wonder, why not just self insure? If you are willing to pay a 10% premium for this service, just decline the cover and be prepared to take the hit when you can't make a show. No need to worry then about 48-hour deadlines.
Of course, if you book directly with theatres, many are sympathetic to problems such as illness and cancelled trains, and will let you swap shows for an admin fee.

From everything I've seen, outside of Rush tickets and sales its better to book with the theatre direct.
