It sounds like they had one and it fell through from what I understand. If it's that imminent hopefully we'll get something concrete to chew over soon. As it's a Tim Sheader production there'll no doubt be some "take" (Like JCS or Carousel), but normally he executes them with conceptual consistency.

Casting announcement I think will come either this week or next. I just thought Giles Terera would be brilliant in this and would have his own take. I’d definitely like to see an experienced actor rather than just a name too

I love La Cage but this is all sounding like a car crash. I really don't know any of todays drag queens, my knowledge ends at Lily Savage, Danny La Rue and Masie Trolette. I want to see a non drag queen actor play a drag queen not a drag queen playing a drag queen. whats the difference? A drag queen out of drag is just an actor.

Looks like this will be his RP swan song now he’s off to run the Donmar.

He may well programme the 24 season (which we already know includes the roald dahl crocodile show) so might do one more for posterity.

Who was the one who fell through? Don't know I'm afraid. Early doors i heard La Gateaux Chocolat had been approached... but no idea if that went anywhere or not

I don't know if they've fallen through, or what's gone on there, but the last name I heard definitely wasn't a RPDR alumni.

From what I understand this production was never on offer to Gateau (or indeed anyone) - what I was told was that was a different planned production (Sheffield, I think) which did fall apart and never happened. This one has apparently just been auditioning actors and drag queens for months but just taking a very very long time to find their man.

Well that production image looks definitely more "up North" than St. Tropez.

Carl Mullaney (Chicago/Les Misérables) as Albin Billy Carter (A Moon For The Misbegotten) as Georges Ben Culleton (as Jean-Michel), Julie Jupp (as Marie Dindon), Shakeel Kimotho (as Jacob), Debbie Kurup (as Jacqueline), John Owen-Jones (as Edward Dindon) Sophie Pourret (as Anne)
Seems as waste of JOJ to have him as Edward
But overall it looks like pretty traditional casting for the show.

Very pleased it's a traditional cast although I'm not familiar with the two leads. I shall definately be booking.

Delighted to see Billy, who I grew up with on the amateur stage, in the leading role.
I’ll definitely be over from Northern Ireland to see him

Carl Mullaney was a favourite of mine at Les Mis (played the nasty snotty bloke after a prostitute and gets Fantine arrested). He was superb in the West End Eurovision 2014 - Flying The Flag Trolly Dolly!

Can't see why not. For all the drag, it is really not a show that would outrageous for a modern kid!
