Interesting that he specified Lin wont be in the initial cast. Does that mean he might pop up in the future?

Baz (who admittedly makes up a lot of stuff) tweeting that the London cast won't include LMM... Given he's working on Moana and has been cast in the Mary Poppins sequel, it's not that surprising, it was always wishful thinking that he reprise the role in London |

Although Moana will be long done by then as it is set for release in 7 months time.
But yes I wonder if this is the same time as he is set to film Mary Poppins. Very possible, especially as Emily Blunt is currently pregnant.

I wouldn't be surprised if they film Poppins in the UK but I can't imagine Lin would want to do a film and do Hamilton at the same time, it'd be too exhausting. I imagine he will very involved with the transfer just not starring in it. |

It isn't unusual for an actor to do a film or a TV show in the day then perform in a show in the evening. Hayley Atwell filmed Cinderella at either Pinewood or Shepperton while she performed in The Pride a few years back although I think she missed a few matinees and they had the understudy on standby in case filming overran but her role in that was small whereas Lin's role in the Mary Poppins sequel is a main character. |

Now what do you do, book when opening or hang on in the hope of seeing LMM? It's very rare I see a show twice especially if having to book tkts, travel and accommodation.
Maybe Hamilton might have to be the one exception.

Wow October 2017 is a little further away than I was expecting but I'm so thrilled that it looks like it's actually going to happen.
Lin opening the show would be a great treat but as so many have said before, the show is the star, getting to see him star in the show he created is just an extra bonus which we willl hopefully get in the future'

October 2017 sounds about what I would have expected. If it was going to be any earlier, then we'd be getting to the point where it's just awkward that there's nothing officially announced by Cameron Mackintosh. I don't mind not getting Lin (though I admit I do speak from the position of having seen him in the role), but there are other Broadway cast members I'd be sorry not to have *coughdaveeddiggsahembutalsoseveralothers*.

Sort of a sequel, I think. The story of this one won't be at all related to the story of the first one (because the Bankses are happy now obvs) so the chronology is largely irrelevant.

I have just been looking up the list of awards and nominations for Hamilton... I kind of feel like they are throwing every nomination at it now just to have it nominated. How can it be seen as fair to have Daveed Diggs and Lin-Manuel Miranda nominated this year for Distinguished Performance at the Drama League when they were nominated for the same roles last year? Neither won last year, nor did it even win Outstanding Production, but it kind of seems to take away a nomination from someone else or to have Hamilton in just for the sake of having it in. That said, the recording is growing on me and I am more excited now than before for it to come over.  |

^ Not sure, but off the cuff I'm thinking that last year's nomination was based on the Off-Broaday Public Theatre production, and this year it's based on the Broadway transfer.

I think if the show had opened on B.Way first it would have won a LOT more of awards. The fact that it didn't get a single acting nomination in the Outer Critics Circle Awards is horrifying.

Completely agree regarding to it would of won more awards had it opened on Broadway first. Which does, in complete honesty, make me think we should not expect as much as many are for the Tony nominations and awards themselves. |

They did have a load of wins at various awards last year that considered the public run. They aren't then eligible for some awards this year because of the public run. So they won critics choice and drama desks last year so aren't eligible.
