I felt the same about the audience when I saw the show back in January. People constantly talking and checking their phones, and of course eating and unwrapping sweets noisily. A few patrons were clearly drunk and still they brought back some more pints after the interval in those horrible and massive plastic cups. I have the feeling that I was the only one there trying to pay attention to the show. Don't think I'll be visiting the Victoria Palace again anytime soon.

Re Joel Montague. Not sure how professional it is to do an Instagram live from his dressing room, still in costume during the interval. The subject? A rant about how he and his now wife Carrie Hope Fletcher have been trolled on social media since their wedding . Surely this is not in his Hamilton contract??

I doubt they will like that at all, but he is coming to the end of his contract so perhaps he's not worried?

So sorry you had such a frustrating / irritating time at the show musicbox. I’d be complaining to DMT about the FOH staff not removing the offending couple at the interval.
Nothing annoys me more than those people who don’t give a monkey’s about ruining it for their fellow audience members. Perhaps a swift removal might have encouraged them to think twice about behaving like this next time they attend a show.

I’ve also not seen this new cast yet but will be making my second visit to the room where it happens next month. Can’t wait to see it again having loved it when I first saw the show last year. Very much hoping I’ll get to see Shan when I go - thought she was an incredible Eponine when I saw her in Les Mis.

Yes, I totally agree with this - it's very unprofessional and wouldn't be allowed in any other workplace. It reminds me of when I went to see ALW Cinderella last year and Joel was doing an unofficial meet and greet with Carrie's fans at the top of the stairs, with a queue of young women right up to the bar. I have nothing against Joel and really like Carrie as she was absolutely lovely when I briefly met her, but I've been finding her behaviour on social media bizarre recently, to the point where I've started to wonder if she's actually struggling a bit - I really hope not! I'm hardly a massive follower though, so I've maybe picked it up wrong in the few posts I've seen. So sorry you had such a frustrating / irritating time at the show musicbox. Yeah I really was tempted to complain, but it happened before the show started so felt like a million years ago by the time it got to the interval and just couldn't be bothered with the hassle to be honest! I can't stress enough though that the VP staff are all brilliant and I'm sure they would've helped if I had brought it up.

I thought I was going mad when couldn't find a thread for Hamilton but turns out there have been no posts for six months so it is really far down the list!
Saw it for the first time since 2018 last night. Really enjoyed it and sat in good stalls seats for the first time.
I wonder if there is some cast illness, it turned out nearly all the lead roles had understudies on: Hamilton, Burr, Mulligan/Maddison, Laurents/Philip, Angelica, Peggy & Eliza.
So only leads on were for King George, Lafayette/Jefferson & George Washington.
Is this a record?! Anyway, it mattered not as they were largely excellent and really enjoyed the show again. I'm sure most the audience wouldn't have known understudies were on and a great reminder of how good they are!

I saw Hamilton on August 25th and there were understudies/alternates on in the roles of Hamilton, Burr, Laurents/Philip, Lafayette/Jefferson and Angelica. Only found this out after the show when I checked the website, and yes, wouldn't have known otherwise as they were all excellent. Alex Sawyer (the alternate Hamilton) was particularly stunning. I was really pleased to have seen him in the role.

I also came on here today to post about Saturday evening and the number of alternates and it was quite a night!
We had Samuel Sarpong-Broni for Hamilton, Aaron Lee Lambert for Burr, Hassun Sharif for Laurens/Philip Hamilton, Matthew Elliot-Campbell for Mulligan/Madison, Jordan Frazier for Angelica, Simbi Akande for Eliza and Lindsey Tierney for Peggy/Maria Reynolds. There wasn't a weak link in the entire company and the energy was exceptional - it's been ages since I've been in the Room Where it Happens but I came away feeling that this is in great hands and has maintained such quality and energy. I do have to say that Aaron Lee Lambert and Jordan Frazier were really wonderful.
This may just be my perception, but Saturday felt very much like the performers had a little more freedom to put their own nuances in some places.
And I must give a special mention to Lemuel Knights (Lafayette/Jefferson), who absolutely stole the show for me - he acted every second he was on stage and I couldn't take my eyes off him. His voice is wonderful but his acting and his characterisation were just next level

It was like I was hearing certain lines in the show for the first time the way he delivered them.

Finally caught this on Mon night!
We just went to the box office about 20 mins before showtime and managed to get very good middle stalls seats for a huge discount from the listed price
Show is great, but Christ the audience behaviour. Two tourists in front of us repeatedly would unlock their phones, and scroll through what looked like wattpad and WeChat. Did this multiple times, during really emotional scenes (burn, who lives who dies). Wanted to tell them off but didn’t feel it was my place. They had their brightness low enough to not alert FOH
Got me thinking, surely there’s a tech solution to this in 2024? Something that would detect the feint light of a screen and shine bright lights in that persons eyes?

I went to a midweek matinee having paid £20 for a seat in the Dress Circle slips. Asked about an upgrade 5 minutes before curtain up and paid an extra £20 to sit dead centre in Row D of the Dress Circle.
Amazing view for £40!!

This certainly isn't the hot seller it once was. Outside of Friday and Saturday, there are a lot of deals if you're willing to hold out for the dynamic pricing to bring the costs down.

OMG! After I don’t know how many attempts, I’ve finally won the TodayTix lottery for next weekend!
Can anyone tell me how good / bad the view from centre front of the stalls is please?
Editing to say I’ve had a look at ViewFromMySeat and as I’m 6ft I should be fine but would still be interested in any comments / experience!

Great!
Edit: Seats are horrific, legroom is horrific so only the boxes are a win for us tall lads. But front and centre is a great view, front of the Grand Circle gives you the best picture.

Thank you… I’ll report back. Funnily enough on my two previous visits I’ve sat front row of the Grand Circle, then front row of the Dress Circle - so feels right I experience the front of the stalls next! I agree, the legroom at the front of both circles was awful, but the view made up for it.

Even the end of aisle seats offer no extra legroom due to the crazy back boards, dodgy staggering and awkward arm rest.

And the centre aisle seats are impacted by the rails…
It does look beautiful post-refurbishment though… just not very comfortable!
Despite that, I’m delighted to have had a lottery win after trying for years, and I’m very much looking forward to a return visit. It’ll provide a much needed Ham-fix to keep me going until the tour hits Southampton next March.

Well this didn’t disappoint this afternoon. Third visit and I had the best time all over again, thank you so much to the lottery!
I was sat right by the conductor’s booth, and was a bit worried about the height of the stage when I took my seat - it’s high. But once the show started that was forgotten. Yes you can’t see feet (and at some points you lose ankles too!) but just for the intimacy and proximity it’s totally worth it. I had goosebumps at several points, and the pure emotion Shan Ako delivered in the second half had me wiping tears from my eyes. My first time seeing Simon Anthony-Rhoden as Burr and I really enjoyed his performance, but Shan stole it for me. Jordan Frazier was on as standby Angelica and both sang and acted it beautifully. The website says this is her first West End role and I’d predict big things for her.
I also loved Lemuel Knights as Lafayette and Jefferson (really played it for the laughs in What Did I Miss?) and great to see Harry Hepple as King George III. For the first time I noticed the metaphors in the lyrics to I Know Him, that could equally be applied to our revolving cast of Prime Ministers, and also to Brexit, as they do to the new US president at this point in Hamilton’s story. He also milked the full comedy value from his appearances and had me chuckling away.
Although I’ve seen it twice before, for the first time today I felt like I really understood and followed the story, and ‘got’ many more of the subtleties, nuances and elements that are only briefly covered than in previous visits. Inevitably I’ve travelled home humming and singing all the hooks so hopefully it won’t be long before I get to see this again.
A packed out theatre, and a well behaved but appreciative audience, I loved it. I even managed to start the standing ovation - it’s a brief curtain call given the length of the show, and whilst the audience were clapping and cheering no one was getting up - but I’d enjoyed every moment and was on the front row right in front of Shan and Declan, so I was getting up! Once I did, the lady next to me did, and the tide began. Much deserved I’d say.

Georgina Onuorah just announced as joining cast as Angelica.
Must only be a short run as she is in Kiss Me Kate over the summer. So pleased for her, she's on a roll after the disaster of Cinderella
