Because it gets them the attention they crave? Look how many are keen on playing the guessing game. If that's actually FUN for some people, let them. If it irritates you, just take a quick look now and then to see if there has been a proper announcement or some other interesting discussion has spawned. It's what I do. We'll know in good time what happens. Personally I much prefer the out of the blue "Oooh, I didn't see that coming" announcements anyway. I can see the appeal of having a quick guessing game based on some interesting clues. But the endless power play along the lines of “ the fifth letter of her uncle’s postman’s dog’s star sign is E”, followed by countless responses of “OF COURSE it’s not that - what a RIDICULOUS suggestion” is a big no from me! LOL. Totally this. And am hearing the bit in bold in Mystic Meg's accent. Our mid 90's Lottery dry ice icon.

I agree. The whole “I know something you don’t know” routine has a shelf life and this one is very near its expiration date. 😏 For me, it’s the most irritating thing about this board. Not sure why some people are so insistent on doing it! Oh totally. It's all gossip until an official announcement anyway.

It's horses for courses, I suppose. Personally, I love a bit of gossip on here, and it usually turns out to be true.

Gotta hope she knows what she's doing now - Hannah wouldnt sign up to something she thought to be a dud though, surely?!

It's the lead in a high profile new musical, with music by Elton John, directed by Jerry Mitchell. Why wouldn't she unless it conflicted with something else? No one goes into a show thinking it will be a flop, though what comes out at the end of the rehearsal period might not always be what you hoped it would be. Way too many people involved along the way.

That would be great. Thanks!! Just skip past my posts darling if they trouble you so much. Funny how you’re quick to discuss Hannah when it’s revealed she’s leading this. Which way do you want it?

I mean with the Chicago production being such a disaster, this has to have been entirely rewritten to be worthy of her putting her name to it. Yes it's Elton John but half the music to Tammy Faye was dross so it being him doesn't automatically make it good. Jerry Mitchell how being director and choreographer helps I think, but it does still seem to be an interesting choice for her return to theatre - I guess I always presumed (rightly or wrongly) that she'd come back in some big revival built around her 🤷🏻♂️

Even when it ends, it may be some time before projects kick into gear again so a lucrative role in a big new musical that likely fits you like a glove? Why not? That said, we could all be getting our chain pulled here so I take all gossip about who, when, where and how as it concerns TDWP with a very large grain of salt.

I thought the Tammy Faye music was amazing! Some of Elton's MT best. Ah well. One man's dross is another man's banger....

I agree. TAMMY FAYE'S score could use a couple of fixes but overall I thought it was one of his strongest.

I remember saying how I thought it was Elton’s best score since “Aida”.

I liked a good chunk of the Tammy Faye music, but there was still a lot of it that needs redoing for me (and it needs a new lyricist but that's a conversation for another thread).

LEAVE MRBARNABY ALONE! We need his/her/their gossip and insider knowledge. I always get a little flutter when I think I might be hearing gossip on here ahead of friends and family

I'm not your darling. Your posts dont trouble me, they amuse me! I was responding to you throwing your toys out of the pram because of comments about people claiming they know stuff. I have no idea what your point is about Hannah Waddingham. I was hardly quick to discuss it when i was responding to another poster who mentioed her.

For pity’s sake, not another thread ruined. Use the ignore feature, I find it very useful to get rid of the dross. I appreciate Mr Barnaby’s insight.
Back on topic, any stand out songs from the initial version? Does a recording exist at this stage?

i heard the only thing of value in the Chicago version was Javier Muñoz....i wonder if they will keep him?
Hannah is a splendid choice though and if she (and her agent) are smart, she'll have Broadway written into her contract. (Well it didn't work all that well for Patti, but she did end up getting a pool out of it lol)

New direction. New set. New book. New score. Everything from Chicago is in the bin.
