I'm surprised that Dublin is never used as a out of town tryout, the Bord Gais Theatre is big enough both in terms of capacity as well as stage

Left field choice but Southampton was meant to be the out of town try out for Chitty but they eventually decided to open cold in London. So it could be anywhere really 🤣 Plymouth could be another one. All depends on if ATG are involved or not I guess. Plymouth is a producing house at least, like The Curve & TR Bath but all just sound unlikely for something as ‘glamorous’ as Prada.

There’s a west end transfer that’s previewed there! How do you mean? That there's another show previewing there before a transfer?

Sorry - another show that transferred/is transferring to the west end has previewed there And it's not been announced yet? I can't think of any show that previewed there recently actually, some smaller shows like Cake and Ride did I guess but they are already announced aren't they. Surely not La Bamba...and I assume you don't mean one of their own?

I don't think there are many left! Bath, Birmingham Rep, Nottingham? They all seem a little too small though.

Aren't we all forgetting which theatre has had more West End transfers than any other in recent years.

I still think RSC in Stratford is a possibility.
They owe us a decent musical after that wretched "Boy In The Dress" fiasco. :-)

The RSC are not going to be producing The Devil Wears Prada...! I can't see why not. They produced MATILDA and have hosted a fair amount of musical premieres ranging from the infamous CARRIE to THE BOY IN THE DRESS. If they could produce those shows why not this one?

Because this one is being produced by Elton John’s own company, and the RSC have no reason to subsidise his business interests?

But then doesn’t the RSC’s Totoro have a few co-producers?

It's try out is at the Minack Theatre. Elaine Paige and Biggins both playing Miranda.

Because this one is being produced by Elton John’s own company, and the RSC have no reason to subsidise his business interests? Is the RSC so financially fit that it would turn down the opportunity to make money from this venture? Usually a producing theatre gets a long-term deal that sees kickbacks from subsequent productions.....they hosted Les Miz at The Barbican (produced by Cameron) and have made at least £25mil as a result. I would imagine they might be keen....
