i heard the only thing of value in the Chicago version was Javier Muñoz....i wonder if they will keep him? Hannah is a splendid choice though and if she (and her agent) are smart, she'll have Broadway written into her contract. (Well it didn't work all that well for Patti, but she did end up getting a pool out of it lol) Saying this again- this is an ENTIRELY new production. They aren’t keeping anyone from the US cast. New direction. New set. New book. New score. Everything from Chicago is in the bin. That’s honest to God the only way to do this musical. Leave absolutely no remnants of that dumpster fire I saw in Chicago, for people to compare with.

it. Yes it's Elton John but half the music to Tammy Faye was dross so it being him doesn't automatically make it good. No, it wasn’t. Tammy Faye may need a few tweaks before transferring, but it wouldn’t have been successful if half the music had been ‘dross’. And it was successful. Elton’s a composer with a known track record of musical theatre hits. Him being involved won’t ‘automatically make it good’ (Lestat, after all) but it will mean it gets loads of attention and plenty of time and care taken to make it as good as it can be. Which is why the production is being entirely overhauled rather than outright binned.

Might have to make a special trip if this proves correct.

Broadway is a nightmare. If you don't catch on immediately there's no hope and you close in a couple of months. Suddenly usually).

Thrilled some of you think it's a great score - I think If You Came To See Me Cry is a banger and there were 2 or 3 other good ones in there but otherwise...not good!!!
Also, we are getting off topic, but Tammy Faye sold out because it was in a 325 seat house, with excellent names attached to it. Yes, Elton's name helped to shift the tickets, but none of the material was out there when we were buying tickets. People didn't necessarily buy tickets on the quality of the writing for Tammy Faye (they couldn't have, there were no examples of it around) - they bought tickets on the back of the creatives bodies of work...

All of which will be a mute point if the show is indeed targeting a Broadway audience. Tammy was a massive name in the 80's-90's across America (the Bakker scandal/fall from PTL was headline news for weeks) and most folks might agree that a musical about her life, especially written by Elton John will be a very attractive sell. So my point is that no matter who the creatives are, a Tammy Faye Bakker musical will likely interest Broadway audiences (particularly US tourists) but having Elton onboard ain't gonna hurt either. Kristin Chenoweth has long been workshopping a musical about Tammy Faye (perfect casting), first in a version called RISE with a score by Henry Kreiger (who was dropped a couple of years ago and David Yazbek was said to be the new composer). News on this seemed to stall when the Elton version was announced and Kristin now has a different project bringing her back to Broadway. But back to Devil Wears Prada.....I have a hunch that this time 6 months from now we will be none-the wiser on where it stands but I hope I am wrong.

Prada, Tammy Faye, et al. What might sell on Broadway isn't as clear cut as it used to be and even then it was fairly murky. You'd hope that tiles and characters with the notoriety of these two shows would be attract crowds, but I certainly would not put any of my own money on that.

I believe the Chenoweth Tammy Faye show is long dead, much like 99.9% of the projects she says “are coming to Broadway”.

I believe the Chenoweth Tammy Faye show is long dead, much like 99.9% of the projects she says “are coming to Broadway”. You just never know. For now she has 'The Queen of Versailles' on the cards by Stephen Schwartz....another eccentric character ala Tammy Faye but she had announced in 2019 that her Tammy Faye musical was full steam ahead. I agree that the project is likely dead now.

I have really close friends working on that show so I can confirm this (at least right now, today) is 100% moving forward with her VERY MUCH attached to it.

Sadly website links are not working. Registration for page takes you to a Rick Astley video on YouTube and if you click link to 'Get More Info' on Plymouth opening nothing happens. I have feeling the site was not mean to be 'live' yet.
