Jennifer Saunders would be an amazing Miranda!!! It's a musical - Saunders would be diabolical as she proved in Sister Act 😂

I still haven't forgiven Jennifer Saunders for the abomination that was Viva Forever.

That’s a shame. Seeing Hannah was the only thing that really appealed to me about this show, not got much interest now.

How strong was this “rumour” anyway? Was it a. Hannah has signed up for it b. Hannah has been sent a script and is interested c. Hannah was in discussions with producers d. Hannah was spotted at the Chicago premier, laughing e. Hanna saw the film and quite liked it so…

Why, Sunday night sitcom star of yesteryear Hannah Gordon of course! No chance you’ll get that being antipodean….
Hannah Waddingham.

The rumour mill continues to grind, but someone on one of the other chatboards said they were overseas and met the actress hired for Miranda and it isn't Hannah Waddingham. She offered that the show is indeed wholly different than the Chicago fiasco with new songs. The actress in question is said to have led several Broadway shows including a very succesful Broadway revival. The consensus is that folks would flip when they found out (and for all of the right reasons)
Guesses have included Donna Murphy or Vanessa Williams. I would be happy with either of those two....while I pray that it isn't Sutton Foster.

I guess it’s entirely possible that Hannah is no longer doing it. She is clearly having her moment so it’s highly likely she’s been offered something better/more lucrative and has jumped ship from Prada

Vanessa Williams would be SO good. Well she’s played the same role in Ugly Betty so there is that.

Surely Sutton is out of the question due to her being in Sweeney Todd on Broadway?

Surely Sutton is out of the question due to her being in Sweeney Todd on Broadway? She and Aaron are only contracted til May so like...it's not out of the question? Unless Jerry Mitchell has inexplicable decided Miranda must dance though I struggle to see how she's the best fit

Jerry has zero taste so it’s quite possible he’s got Miranda doing a tap routine.

Jerry has zero taste so it’s quite possible he’s got Miranda doing a tap routine. Hmm....given his amazing staging of HAIRSPRAY and more than decent work on KINKY BOOTS, LEGALLY BLONDE and several other Broadway hits I am not sure where that quip is coming from. In interviews he has mentioned making the tone/structure more like that of the film (which the Chicago version failed to do to its detriment) so I don't think tap shoes will be heading anywhere near this show.

I find Mitchell to be a great choreographer but not that great a director so like all bets are off as to the direction this will go🤷🏻♂️

I find Mitchell to be a great choreographer but not that great a director so like all bets are off as to the direction this will go🤷🏻♂️ He’s definitely lost his flare for directing the last few years, and given how lazy Pretty Woman was I’m not convinced he’s the best fit for another doesn’t-need-to-be-a-musical-adaption. Fingers crossed it’s more Legally Blonde than Pretty Woman.

Well Pretty Woman's direction is the least of its problems. You can't blame Mr Mitchell for the weak script and/or score.
