This is increasingly a big hot woke mess. I would love to see the normal casting breakdown for Sophie & Sky. Surely having a hot beach body, being able to sing and being even remotely engaged by musical theatre are prerequisites. Loved Stevie, have no feelings for any of the Sky’s. They barely register in the show and I can see no reason to make out differently. Just give it to Stevie and let us off the rest. I don't know, I don't think I've ever seen a really hot Sky tbh. They've all been lean/slim but not what I'd call super hot/ripped. Eddie and Pepper seem to be more often those. The guys on this I'd say all have the Sky look. The Sophies are a bit more diverse admittedly, but most could be a Sophie looks wise.

(Actually I have no idea what Woke means anymore, to be honest.) Do you mean that not all the Sophie's look like Amanda Seyfried and some of Sky's don't look like Dominic Cooper? I mean they've clearly gone for a nice mix of people so the general public can relate and root for different people. That's pretty standard marketing, isn't it? And clearly most of the people on this show aren't aiming to get a job as either but are looking to garnish their CV and get cast in other big roles. I mean I'd agree with the hot bit, they are all fun to look at.

I mean that they’ve deliberately chosen a spectrum of buzz words rather than the actual casting brief. I don’t have a problem with it, I just think it’s disingenuous and that some of the people that have made it onto the programme would not ordinarily have gotten within 500 metres of the audition room. But similarly I also realise that the thought police would’ve been straight in there if all of the auditionees were white, thin & straight. Damned if they do etc.

Not sure that they were honest in their reason for eliminating Leah this week. She had a better vocal than most and had more demanding choreo than many.
She was not the weakest.
As for the boys, it was probably the right call. Tobias is still the strongest option.

Damned if they do etc. It's more that the advertisers would complain the show isn't appealing to the demographic they want to sell stuff to, rather than some nebulous Orwellian force. And that's true in general, the broader you cast they more people you can reel in. Looking at the cast that's currently on stage (google: mamma-mia london-cast ), the people on the show look pretty much aligned with the people in the current production. All that said, Leah was robbed. But she was never getting to end of the series.

Three episodes to go and still a bit of dead wood to clear out.
But the first one I’d get rid of is Jessie Ware. Super critical of everything at the start of every episode, continually drawing focus by singing/bobbing along and commenting during the performances, the acts like it’s a really tough decision and gets all misty eyed during the elimination. Just annoying.

What I don't like with this show is we haven't had a chance to get to know the people, with the other "finding a..." style shows on the BBC you got to see the auditions and rooted for your favorites, with this show I feel no connection with any of them apart from Desdemona as I saw her with Maria Friedman so know a bit of her story and passion for theatre.
Random fact as I was walking to the station last week (after seeing Tina) I saw Owen coming out of a sweet shop near the Vaudeville Theatre, he then went into the theatre quickly as I was going to ask him if he had any goss!

I find it quite annoying and rude when the judges talk as they are performing. Mazz Murray is a guest on next week's episode, I noticed she's on the credits as creative consultant (I think that was the job title). I agree with others that Tobias seems the front runner for Sky. Assuming that Desmonda is in the final, I'm not sure who the final couple will be? Stevie and Owen perhaps?

Desmonda can sing but her acting and stage presence isn't yet registering as interesting.

She’s only signed up for the Aladdin tour in Edinburgh so far, I assumed this meant that she’s got to the final and wants to see what happens rather than commit to the full tour.

Considering the roles she's had so far, I am shocked how bad Desmondas acting is.

Of the Sky's my favourite is Craig, but not sure he will end up winning

I don't know why they put Marcellus through to this bit if I'm being honest. He seems nice, and I know that it's playing age that's important, but I'm not convinced that a paired casting of an Sophie in her early twenties and a 36 year old is ideal.

One of my pet hates in the theatre is people applauding during a song and before the end of the song. Tonight I've just seen the judges doing it whilst Mazz Murray was singing. Really annoyed me.

It’s just another example of people making it about themself rather than appreciating those that they’re watching.

I truly believe Esme has only made it this far because she looks the part. I just find her a bit stiff. Stephanie and Stevie have been the strongest to me since day. But I totally agree with the judges that Stephanie comes across too ‘trained’. She is the perfect MT graduate but has no individuality or personality when she performs. But would deserves be an ensemble member or swing who is constantly booked. Stevie remains my winner.

I was quite surprised by Desmonda leaving tonight. I wonder if she has something else lined up for after Aladdin in Edinburgh.
I think the strongest two performers who should win now are Stevie and Tobias.

I think she just has the rest of the Aladdin tour lined up. She just couldn’t announce it because it would announce that she didn’t win.

Stevie needs to show she can lose her accent to be a convincing contender. There hasn't been the opportunity for this thus far. But they should test it.

I liked Desmonda in Miss Saigon, so I’m sorry to see her go, but her acting was rather ropey tonight so can see why they chose her. Felt bad for Marcellus in the beginning with him having an infection, but he never really got any better.
Esme had a bad week, but there’s not really anyone who particularly stands out from the remaining performers.
Loved seeing Mazz being part of the process, and especially seeing her doing the Winner Takes It All. That’s the reason I went to see Mamma Mia when the theatres reopened, and of course I managed to book a show that she wasn’t scheduled for. 🤦🏻♂️
They’ve got Cher on next week, presumably just on a video, but still…

I mean, I’m biased as Heathers’ fan, but Tobias is so natural. He deserves to win, but at the same time, Sky is such a limiting role.
It’s bizarre to see the judges looking for original acting performances, whilst knowing that the person eventually cast will have to follow the script as originally devised.
The sound sweetening on the show is horrible.
Still, there’s a lot of talent here. Very different to the weekly live and voting shows of yesteryear, but good Sunday entertainment.

Yes, quite. Anyone thats ever sat and watched questionable entertainment on a veranda in the med on their holidays knows that nobody sounds like that outdoors.

Anyone thats ever sat and watched questionable entertainment on a veranda in the med on their holidays knows that nobody sounds like that outdoors. It’s going to be interesting to hear what they sound like live in the final. So far, it all feels a bit like ‘let’s have a variety of people in the line-up, but let’s get rid of the ones we’d never cast in the roles in a million years before the public get to have their say!’ I get why TPTB have done it that way, but it does come across as a box ticking exercise rather than an attempt to do anything different with the casting. It also feels a bit lacking without the live/public vote/sing-off element.
