The website is not great at the best of times, you'd thought they have upgraded it by it.

Complete Farce. They know how many members they have, they should have the capacity to deal with it

Received an email from the BFI saying booking is shut until they’ve sorted this: why don’t they get the people that organise booking for events with actual proper amounts of tickets on sale like Glastonbury or the events in Hyde Park? Absolute shambles (as usual)

Just got a grovelling general apology email from them which seemed keen to highlight their "partners" who provide the service...

..and member booking now opening at 12.30pm tomorrow. Apparently.
I will be away for most of this year's festival so am only looking at a couple of things neither of which I think will sell heavily. But nonetheless I'd like the purchases to go smoothly...

Good luck (again) to anyone booking tickets today. Let's hope for a clean booking process. (and some restricted view tickets left for one or two galas please, can't justify a £40 ticket to a netflix movie coming out in the next couple months)

Well this afternoon's bookings went much smoother than yesterday! Managed to get all 14 films I'm wanting to see and didn't have to pay ridiculous prices for the 4 galas I'm going to. Hopefully they've learned from this year and this is the start of every year having a much better booking process.

Looks like they're going to address the issues at the RFH from last year. Very relieved as that's where the majority of my screenings are.

Ended up only booking The Whale in the end. Lots of things sold out of the £5 tickets (or they're not available yet for non-RFH screenings) if not sold out completely so I'm gonna chance it with the on the day £5 tickets for the rest of them. I could've got good seats for Pinocchio and Women Talking but only the subtitled screenings and I figured the wide release, for Pinocchio at least, isn't too far away so I can just wait (though I'll try for the on the day tickets for their regular screenings too).

Managed to nab a £5 ticket at the front of the rear stalls section to Pinocchio on Saturday the 15th. Don't know what circumstances made them available as I don't think there were any left last time I checked, only to the subtitled showing on the 16th, but it just so happened I was logged on to see if a new batch of tickets were releasing at midnight (it seems they're actually releasing at 10am) so I'm glad I didn't stay up late for nothing. It makes me a bit more hopeful that I'll be able to bolster my schedule a bit before the festival ends as long as I keep on top of things.

Edinburgh Filmhouse has ceased trading. Was booked in to see my first 2 festival films before going off to London later in the week. No matilda or White Noise for me.
Please support independent cinemas before they all disappear. Such a fantastic venue that will be missed!

Had a good value, neck-breaking 'Explorer' seat at RFH for The Eternal Daughter last night. Sort of bearable for a shorter film & seeing the actors up close during the intro but was glad once it was over.
I don't know what the sound has been in previous years but for anyone wondering, it's terrible - it echoes and the speech portions are not distinct enough. Way worse than my standard Vue.
