Patsy F is so NOT a Blanche -- this will be an intriguing changeover for sure: Rebecca F sticking with the tried and true.

I wasn't booked to see this originally and couldn't really see myself fitting it in but now that Patsy Ferran is in it,it is a must see for me. I hope there are returns or I can get almeida for free tickets.

Oh gawd, this is going to make punting for a return exponentially harder. Also poor Lydia on multiple levels. I wish her a speedy recovery and more hit plays and films in the future.

was so impressed by Lydia in The Duchess Of Malfi and was looking forward to seeing her Blanche. Wish her a speedy recovery. This is my most highly anticipated show for the season.

That’s a shame for Lydia but I must say I’m thrilled that I’ll now be seeing Patsy Ferran. I’ve thought her fantastic every time I’ve seen her on stage.

I share this exact sentiment: Wilson is a great actress, but if a change has to happen I cannot imagine anyone better than Ferran. Especially as I cannot really imagine her in the role, so I am really excited to see how that will work, but having seen her o stage before I am still confident it cannot not work.

really gutted as I was supposed to see this on Wednesday, coach booked and all .. manifesting they’ll give me spare tix to another date as I’m desperate to go:( I was supposed to go on Tuesday, second cancellation now! Very annoying but worth giving them a call, I was just able to get another ticket for January. I suspect also a better seat for the same price...

I was meant to go on the 15th so that was cancelled. Pretty quickly sent off an email suggesting 3 alternative dates, but have heard nothing back. Wonder if I should have suggested more dates...

Give them a call, the lady over the phone said that they are dealing with so many emails, it will take ages to get back to people. I was able to get my second preferred date

On the Almeida website, they states it's an injury that caused Lydia Wilson to withdraw rather than health reasons.

On the Almeida website, they states it's an injury that caused Lydia Wilson to withdraw rather than health reasons. So an injury doesn't affect your health?

The OP clearly meant it seemed to be a situation that would get resolved and she'd be okay in the long-run, thankfully. Allow me to go and pick my eyes up now. They rolled out of my head when I read your comment.

Arriving late to comment (I was in Rome for work which sounds like a good reason to absent :-)), but the casting of Patsy Ferran goes so against my idea of Blanche that it is very exciting to imagine what she will do. I feel sorry for Lydia Wilson because being cast for a major production of Streetcar in London does not happen very often. Hopefully she will recover soon and be in another wonderful production elsewhere.

As you say, Ferran is so against type that it's intriguing to see what she comes up with. Definitely feels like it's an exciting challenge for her as a performer. Expecting something similar to Blanchett's performance in Blue Jasmine.

There are some available seats for several performances before the end of the year. Also, I didn't realize this was in the roundish

Just got myself 2 tix for the new year. I knew more tickets would become available closer to the run. For those going, can you advise on what the view is like in the stalls on the other side of the stage? Or if this set up has been done before, can other board members say if the view is alright? Thanks

The last play I saw at the Almeida “in the round” was Shipwreck in 2019. The view was fine and it was staged in a way which accommodated the seats at the side (I don’t recall if it was “fully” in the round).
The rear stage seats are £5 cheaper, so that would indicate perhaps more of the backs of heads, but proximity is a good thing and I’m sure it will be fine. Obviously no one has yet seen this staging, so let’s see.
As a matter of interest, which plays at the Almeida have been staged in the round? Albion was traverse with a long stage jutting out into the stalls.

Happy I managed to get a ticket to a performance of this next year. Regarding the seating, do remember that Rebecca Frecknall directed the production of Cabaret in the round, and I thought she did a fabulous job of having the actors plays to all sides.
